The top half of the screen shows the time at your Home
location. The bottom left of the screen shows the time at an Away
location. You can choose locations from a database of over 120 places. The
bottom right corner shows the Alarm time.
If you tap the Away button at the top right corner, the
Home and Away displays swap over, so you can see the Away time bigger, and
adjust the Away location.
The Sun icon shows when Daylight Saving Time is in operation. This
is calculated automatically, using rules in the database (which you can
change). |

System Requirements |

Travel Clock will run on all versions of the Palm
Pilot which run PalmOS 2.0 or later, up to and including PalmOS 3.5. If you
have one of the very early Palm Pilots that ran
PalmOS 1.0, you need Travel
Clock Version 1.2, which is also available from PalmGear HQ. |

Installation |

| |
If you downloaded the ZIP file, unzip it onto your hard
disk, using WinZip or a similar tool.
Use the PalmPilot install tool to install the application file and the
location database. Install cclockdem.prc if you want the color version, or clockdem.prc
if you want the black and white version. Also install the location database, which is the same in all cases, and
is called places.pdb. |

Getting started - setting your Home
location |
|

Click on the Travel Clock icon. If you are running the
demo, the first thing you see is a message reminding you how to get the
registered version. Click on OK to clear the message. (The registered
version doesn't have this message - it takes you into the program right
away.)
You should now see the main screen. The first time you use
Travel Clock, you have to tell it where you are, so it can work out
the times in other places. Tap on the words 'Home location'. |

Now you will see a list of places in the database. (If
this list is empty, you didn't install the places.pdb file properly. Try
again.)
Choose your home location from the list, and press OK. If
it isn't in the list, you can add a new
location by tapping 'New'.
Changing the home location setting
doesn't change the time being displayed. It tells Travel
Clock where in the world you are. Then when you select another place as
an Away location, Travel Clock can work out what time it is there.
You can use the Travel facility to
change the home time when you travel to another country or
time zone.

Setting the away location |
|
|
| |
Tap the Away button in the top right corner. This moves
the Away time to the top half of the screen. Now you can tap 'Away
location' to choose a place. The time display will change in line with
your choice. It will be correct only if you have set Home location
correctly too. |

Setting the alarm |
|
|
| |
Tap the time displayed under the word 'Alarm'. This
brings up a display that allows you to choose the alarm time to the
nearest minute. The alarm will sound every day whenever Home time is equal
to Alarm time. You can unset the alarm by tapping the bell icon. When the
alarm sounds, the Pilot turns on if it was switched off, and a message is
displayed. Tapping 'Done' stops the alarm until tomorrow. Tapping 'Snooze'
silences the alarm for two minutes. If you don't tap either button, the
alarm will continue for five minutes.
Some model of the Palm have a problem in that the
alarm doesn't work at first when the device is turned off. If you have
that problem, you can fix it by pressing Reset on your device. You
should only have to do this once.

Travel facility |
|
|
| |
You can reset the Home time to the
Away time by using the Travel facility. Use this when you
go on a trip to the Away location. Tap the airplane icon in
the center of the bottom of the screen. If you answer
Yes to the confirmation question that appears, the System
time of the Pilot is changed to Away time, and Away time
and Home time are swapped over.

Adding new places to the
database |
|
|
| |
You can add as many new locations to the database as you
like. Just bring up the places list by tapping the location dropdown near
the top of the screen, then tap the New button.
Enter the place name, and select its time zone, in hours
relative to GMT. If Daylight Saving
Time operates in this location during summer time,
check the Daylight Saving Time box, and use the popup lists to give the
rules for when DST is in operation. If you aren't sure, use one of the
other places in the database as your guide. (You can look at the DST
settings by tapping the Edit button.)
Most European countries have DST from the last Sunday in
March to the last Sunday in October. North America has DST from the first Sunday in April to the last
Sunday in October. |
