Desktop Synchronizer
synchronizes the user's e-card data between www.palmgreetings.com and The user's box/Outbox in the Mobile
Device. The Desktop Synchronizer resides on the desktop and fetches the user information from the web-site according to the schedule set by the user.Tt enables the user to download the data from website in the background. The Synchronizer identifies the latest Mobile Device user and downloads the user information from the website intto the user's profile folders. This information is passed on to the Mobile Device on Synchronization. The user can then view his cards offline on his mobile device. Presently CardBrowser is available for Mobile devices supporting Palm Pilot, Windows CE and Epoc Operating Systems. The Desktop Synchronizer also Synchronizes the Device Database for the above mentioned devices only. Synchronization with Inbox/Outbox at www.PalmGreetings.com The Desktop Synchronizer requires the user to fill in the valid user email id and password. The Synchronizer fetches the Users Inbox data from the site and dispatches the Outbox information to the web-site. Later when the user synchronizes his mobile device with the entire information is updated in the mobile device. The user can now use the Devices CardBrowser for viewing his cards. Synchronizing with my mobile device with the desktop PC To synchronize the inbox/outbox information with your device you will need to have the device specific service managers installed. For Palm Pilot you will need to have Palm Desktop Organizer, For Windows CE you will need to have Windows CE Services installed and Psion Services for Epoc based Mobile Devices. Setting up Schedule for Synchronizatio with www.PalmGreetings.com The Desktop Synchronizer is capable of automated refreshing of Inbox/Outbox data between the desktop and the web-site. The user can set the options of scheduling the frequency of Updates from the Set Schedule Dialog. The available frequencies are :
Sync Now The Desktop Synchronizer also provides the user with the option of updating data with the web-site out of the schedule also. This can be achieved by clicking the Sync Now Button. This however does not affect the scheduled updates, which will still be carried out normally Change User The same Desktop Synchronizer can be used to synchronize the data for multiple users. For this, the user needs to enter his information in the Change User dialog. He will also have to select his device type and the user on that device type. e.g. A desktop having Palm Desktop Organizer may have multiple users, user1, user2, etc. Save Password : If the user selects the save password option, then the user is marked as the permanent user of the synchronizer. All the schedules and settings will then be appliocable to this newly marked user. He can, however, change the settings at any later stage. Run Synchronizer in the Backgroud The user can, after setting up the needed information, the user can minimize the application so that it runs in the background. The application icon resides in the system tray. When the application is synchronizing data, the application icon is activated.
