Overview
EVEdit is a HackMaster extension that incorporates several significant enhancements to:

• Text Editing
• Help with Graffiti Echo
• Clipboard Expansion
• Menu Access

Usage
EVEdit has a  menu that incorporates the built-in edit functions and provides easy access to most of EVEdit's editing features.

To invoke EVEdit menu, simply draw soft pen stroke set in EVEdit preferences or drag & drop the selected text on the current Application Title. The default soft pen stroke is to draw stroke from MENU button to Graffiti area.

After the EVEdit menu appears, you can perform any of the EVEdit menu commands as described below.

Menu Commands for EVEdit menu have Graffiti "command stroke" equivalents. Each command shows its corresponding command letter on the right side of the menu item.  No conflict occurs while using EVEdit menu commands and common menu commands of active application at the same time.

With the EVEdit menu soft pen stroke and the corresponding command letter, you can immediately activate the EVEdit menu command, similar to the common menu commands.

 Note:
   You should input the corresponding command letter after the EVEdit menu appears.
   The "/" symbol in the EVEdit menu indicates the EVEdit menu soft pen stroke, not the regular menu  command symbol.
 

Edit Menu:

1. To active the Edit Menu, the default soft pen stroke is to draw stroke from MENU button to Applications button.
2. Access to common editing functions such as Undo, Cut, Copy, Paste, Select All.
3. Find, Find Next & Replace text functions.

(Options: Case Sensitive, Whole Words Only, Prompt on Replace, scope, etc.)
Note: This function works in currently active FIELD only.
4. EVEdit Preferences.

You can set up EVEdit in EVEdit menu, as an alternative to tapping on the  '+' sign beside the EVEdit application in HackMaster.

1. To active the Clip Menu, the default soft pen stroke is to draw stroke from MENU button to Graffiti Top Left area.
2. Expands Clipboard from one item to ten items.
3. Gives you access to the 10 last items placed in the clipboard.

(Each Clipboard item displays the first part of the text in the Clip Menu)
4. You can just copy or cut the text from any text field. The text was added into Multi-Clipboard.
5. When you paste the text into any field from the menu or the menu command, the most recent text will be pasted..
6. To pick a text from the Multi-Clipboard:
• you simply drop selected text to TITLE area of the current application or
• drag from the menu button to the graffiti area (the soft pen stroke configured in EVEdit Setting Panel).
• Then you can choose a text from the EVEdit MENU->Clip menu. After you choose a text, it moves to the first position in the Multi-ClipBoard.
7. You can lock less than six clip items by tapping on the "Lock clip item" option from the Clip menu within the EVEdit menu system.
8. The Multi-Clipboard can be emptied by tapping on the "Empty Multi-Clipboard" option from the Clip menu within the EVEdit menu system.It won't remove the locked clip items.

3. Insert time in your editing point.You can select include hour and minute or not include.

1. MOVE or COPY your marked spot position.
2. To toggle MOVE/COPY mode, mark a spot first, then lift your stylus, tap and hold on the spot, wait seconds, you will see the mode change alternately. Or press the scroll-down button to toggle the mode.
3. Text selection enhancement.
• Tap twice (double tap) to select one word. Tap twice, hold and drag to extend the spot by word.
• Tap three times to select a paragraph. Hold and drag to extend the spot by paragraph.
• Tap four times to select all area.
4. Dragging the selected text to the Title Bar will invoke the EVEdit menu. You can then do anything that the EVEdit menu permits.

• When you write in the graffiti area,  the pen stroke will appear in the lower middle region of the screen EVEdit also gives you audible confirmation when you enter a valid graffiti character.

• Provides fast and easy access to an application's menu. Just drops down the menu of an application by clicking its title bar.

Installation
EVEdit requires PalmOS 1.x or later version.

IMPORTANT INSTALLATION NOTE:
If you have installed a previous version of EVEdit, you should uninstall it before installing this new one. To uninstall a previous version, uncheck "EVEdit" in HackMaster and perform a soft reset. If you do not, you will most certainly cause a system crash when you attempt to use EVEdit functions.

1. EVEdit is a HackMaster extension, so you must install HackMaster first.
2. Install EVEdit.prc using PalmPilot Install Tool or any other equivalent program.
3. Launch HackMaster on your Pilot, and check the check box for EVEdit.

Configuration

EVEdit Preferences:
To Configure EVEdit, launch HackMaster and tap the '+' sign next to EVEdit or access the Preferences from the EVEdit Menu:

Here, you can select which features of EVEdit you wish to enable and how you wish to configure them:

1. Graffiti Echo with OPTIONS.

Graffiti Echo Configuration: You can change Display Style, Line Width, Gray Stroke, Show Bound and Clear Background of Graffiti Echo.
2. Alarm after input.
3. Enable Multi-Clipboard.
4. Tap Title to Popup Menu.
5. EVEdit Menu Options.

Soft pen stroke Settings of Edit/Clipboard/Action menu.
6. Drag & Drop Options.
• Default Mode: determines EVEdit's default drag mode, MOVE or COPY.
• Auto Switch After... Seconds: Time of Copy/Move mode Auto Switch.
• Max value between taps: Identify taps when using multi-tap text selection function.

Spacing...Dots: Set the max dot tolerance between taps.
Time...Seconds: Set the max second interval between taps.
• Include Tail spaces: Include the space following the last word of the selection.

FAQ

Q:Why the clipboard can not be clear after I upgrade to v1.81,and the copy/past have problem?

A:When upgrade to  v1.8,the database format is changed,so must uninstall the old version of EVEdit first .

Q: I have experienced one minor bug which is a failure to update the screenproperly when using the graffiti echo feature - either letters disappear for a while or some stray characters or blocks appear (especially when scrolling).

A: We have settled part of the problem. You can avoid this problem, don't write graffiti when there is a output of any application on the screen.

Q: Why does the text appear to be lost when I using "Drag & Drop" function?

A: The "lost" text is in the Muti-Clipboard. So use "Paste" command to retrieve it.

• Change the find feature so that it can skip spaces.
• Add Graffiti Divider to input capital letters easily.
• Expand built-in Undo function from 1 to more than 10 times.

[EVPlugBase]

EVPlugBase is an open platform for third-party developers to develop a Plugin for Palm OS. Palm OS is very succinct os system, but it's a little inconvenient. Many programers develop patches for the system, some of them are based with Hack Master, a great platform for patches, others are not. That was the internal reason that might crash the pilot.
After we finished EVEdit, a Hack extension, we find it is necessary to develop a new mechanism to the programers who want to add some of the system patch trap in their applications. We name these applications "Plugin", different with "hack".
    What is lack of the Hack Master?

1. Not solve the hack conflict with the no-hack application problem.
2. Strictly resources requirement:

• Strictly resources ID requirement, for example, patch code ID must start from 'code' resource 1000, config panel resource ID must be 2000 etc.
• Strictly require 'TRAP' resource, it is very difficult for Code warrior programer.
1. Waste of code, for example, when a patch want to replace several system trap, normally a piece of init code needed in several place, that will waste a lot code.
2. Inflexible programing, for example, in different version of OS, SysKeyboardDialog trap is different, if you want to replace it in Palm OS 1.0, you must replace the SysKeyboardDialogV10 trap, but when you try in Palm OS 2.0, you must replace SysKeyboardDialog trap, so you must provide two version for these two OS.

1. EVPlugBase can manage all Plugin written according EVPlugBase rule. No conflict each other.
2. EVPlugBase can manage all other no-hack applications that replace system traps.
3. Provide delete-protection. This prevent some users to delete Plugin or Hackextension which is actived, that will mostly cased a system crash.
4. Provide SoftPenStroke function for Plugin. It will save many time of patch programer.
5. Solve all problem that list in the lack of Hack Master.
