IMPORTANT INSTALLATION NOTE:

This is program running with EVPlugBase.If you use HackMaster,you should uninstall it and install EVPlugBase(FREE), EVPlugBase can support most of the HackMaster extension now.

You must uncheck EVPalmDict in EVPlugBase, and delete old version before install the new version, or you will mostly crash your palm pilot.

You must install a Chinese OS for Palm pilot, we suggest you use EVSTAR full version.

Overview

EVPalmDict is a dictionary plugin for EVPlugBase, now release with a database contains about 17000 English words and its Chinese meaning. Support what you point what you get the meaning function. It's helpful when you are reading English books or emails. You can input a English word to get its Chinese meaning too.

EVPalmDict now support two dictionary, one is English-Chinese(GB), the other is English-Chinese(Big5). The dictionary maker for windows95/98/nt free. With the dictionary maker, you can make a bilingual dictionary youself.

Usage
EVPalmDict has two way to get the meaning of a English word:

• Make sure you have installed EVPlugBase and the EVPalmDict is actived. (The check box is checked in EVPlubBase)
• Point to a English word, wait for seconds. You will get its meaning.
• If you are using AportisDoc reader, the function to scroll the screen is changed a little, you must tap a place, move away from the dot you just point to active the screen scroll function.
• Use the quick stroke to active the lookup form, input the word, you will get the its meaning. The default stroke is from find button to grafitti number bottom area.

Installation
EVPalmDict requires PalmOS 1.x or later version.

IMPORTANT INSTALLATION NOTE:

If you use HackMaster you should uninstall it and install the EVPlugBase (FREE).

If you have installed a previous version of EVPalmDict, you should uninstall it before installing this new one. To uninstall a previous version, uncheck "EVPalmDict" in EVPlugBase and perform a soft reset. If you do not, you will most certainly cause a system crash when you attempt to use EVPalmDict functions.

1. EVPalmDict is a Plugin for EVPlugBase, so you must install EVPlugBase first.
2. Install EVPalmDict.prc using PalmPilot Install Tool or any other equivalent program.
3. Launch EVPlugBase on your Pilot (The default stroke is from application button to graffiti letter top area, and check the check box for EVPalmDict.

EVPlugBase is available at http://www.evscl.com. It is a freeware, can support almost all the hacks which are supported by HackMaster.  Please register EVPlugBase if you plan to continue using it.
 

Configuration

EVPalmDict Preferences:
To Configure EVPalmDict, launch EVPlugBase and tap the down sign next to EVPalmDict or access the Preferences by quick stroke, from find button to graffiti letter top area.

Here, you can select which features of EVPalmDict you wish to enable and how you wish to configure them:

1. Active config Form.
2. Active look up form
3. Setup Display time.
4. Capture time.

Registering EVPalmDict
EVPalmDict is released as shareware. Your registration will help us to further enhance this software. To registration EVPalmDict, please stroke from find button to graffiti top area to active the config form, tap the register button.

Once the 30-days evaluation period has expired, if you find this software useful, you are expected to purchase the registered version of EVPalmDict for US$20 through one of the following sites on the Internet:

Q:

Q: Can I input Chinese to get Egnlish meaning?

A: No.

Q:Can I use the keyboard to input?

A:Yes for this version.

Q: Can I build a dictionary for italian, Japanese, Korea?

A:Yes, EVPalmDict is for bilingual usage, we release our dictionary maker free.

Q: Why I can't get some word's meaning?

A: Because we make the dictionary with a rule to delete some "easy" word. We will try to make a good English Chinese dictionary later.

[EVPlugBase]

EVPlugBase is an open platform for third-party developers to develop a Plugin for Palm OS. Palm OS is very succinct os system, but it's a little inconvenient. Many programers develop patches for the system, some of them are based with Hack Master, a great platform for patches, others are not. That was the internal reason that might crash the pilot.
After we finished EVPalmDict, a Hack extension, we find it is necessary to develop a new mechanism to the programers who want to add some of the system patch trap in their applications. We name these applications "Plugin", different with "hack".
    What is lack of the Hack Master?

1. Not solve the hack conflict with the no-hack application problem.
2. Strictly resources requirement:

1. • Strictly resources ID requirement, for example, patch code ID must start from 'code' resource 1000, config panel resource ID must be 2000 etc.
   • Strictly require 'TRAP' resource, it is very difficult for Code warrior programer.
2. Waste of code, for example, when a patch want to replace several system trap, normally a piece of init code needed in several place, that will waste a lot code.
3. Inflexible programing, for example, in different version of OS, SysKeyboardDialog trap is different, if you want to replace it in Palm OS 1.0, you must replace the SysKeyboardDialogV10 trap, but when you try in Palm OS 2.0, you must replace SysKeyboardDialog trap, so you must provide two version for these two OS.

When we are developing EVPalmDict (A HackMaster extension), we feel these inconvenient deeply, so we develop EVPlugBase, to manage Plugins for Palm OS. The enhancement list below:

1. EVPlugBase can manage all Plugin written according EVPlugBase rule. No conflict each other.
2. EVPlugBase can manage all other no-hack applications that replace system traps.
3. Provide delete-protection. This prevent some users to delete Plugin or Hackextension which is actived, that will mostly cased a system crash.
4. Provide SoftPenStroke function for Plugin. It will save many time of patch programer.
5. Solve all problem that list in the lack of Hack Master.
