The TCP Port Sniffer
Find out how to test it !
This utility is being designed for SYSADMIN'S and generally curious people can find a multitude of services on and Host machine. It has (for now) the ability to detect FTP, HTTP, POP, SMTP, TELNET and ECHO (ping) on virtually ANY port. It can handle subnets throught an incremental IP addressing scheme and resolve hostnames to any active address. It also displays local host information and works well with dynamic IP's and Dial Up accounts.
The interface is a simple Point and Click form to select Port, Protocol and Addressing. It has adjustable timeouts for enhanced speed on local subnets and logging features for unattended use.
It is designed for Windows 95 but should work fine on any 32bit Windows platform. I have yet to test it on NT, and if you wnat to for me, see the BETA section of this document.
I am looking for a handful people to help test this utility. Due to the variations in platforms this utility can investigate, it is crucial to have a good understanding of the systems it will be checking and TCP/IP protocols. Contact me for more details. All people invloved with testing will recieve a fully working ( possibly customized ) version upon completion.
