Advanced Options
These are the setting that you SHOULD NOT change unless you have the following situations.
Sending Speed Too Fast (or Typing Speed Too Slow)
Too Fast: Remote computer can not receive character by character but a bundle of text or even cannot receive some of the text.
Too Slow: You are limited to type fast.
Respond Idle Time Too Fast (or A Few Second Longer To Connect)
Too Fast: The program does not have enough time to wait for signal and provide a fault message that it cannot to connect.
Too Slow: A few second longer time to connect to remote computer.
Connect Timeout Too Fast (or Wait Too Long To Retry)
Too Fast: The program does not have enough time to wait for signal and provide a fault message that it cannot to connect, if you have unstable or very slow connection. (i.e. 28.8k modem connecting to remote computer through Internet)
Too Slow: Waiting too long to retry if you didn't provide correct connect port address.
Do Not Resolve Address Name While Connecting
x Chat will try to check the hostname while connecting to remote computer. If you are not using fast connection and do not have DNS server setup properly, you can disable this feature. Once it is off, x Chat won't show your local information during startup.
Name Resolution Using Hosts File
If the hostname you enter does not resolve to IP address, then you may use 'HOSTS' file to add this hostname to the hosts table. Next times, when you enter hostname, the program will look up the table and retrieve the IP address from there.
You may have a look of the following Microsoft support document.

Sample
This is the sample hosts file for your reference. It does not have any effect to hosts table. (For Windows 95/98 only, Windows NT does not have this sample.)
Restore Default
Restore default advanced setting if you mess up the above setting.
