  11.             The following release notes describe the changes to Filefind
  12.             in the various versions of the program.

  14.             Version 1.70
  15.                  October 1, 1990
  16.                  Version 1.7 introduces a Windows 3.0 compatible version
  17.                  as well as several enhancements.
  18.  
  19.                  Functional Changes
  20.  
  21.                       1    Filefind is MS Windows 3.0 compatible.  It
  22.                            may also be run under MS Windows 2.x.
  23.  
  24.                       2    The tree display allows the same multiple
  25.                            selections as the file list.  The directory
  26.                            searches are performed on all selected
  27.                            directories.
  28.  
  29.                       3    The FileSpec dialog has been changed to allow
  30.                            setting the search specification without
  31.                            actually invoking the search.  This is useful
  32.                            for when the initial search is for a filespec
  33.                            in selected directories.  The OK button has
  34.                            been renamed Search and the new button is
  35.                            named Set.
  36.  
  37.                       4    Copying the selection list or the entire file
  38.                            list to the clipboard has been added.  File
  39.                            times, dates, etc. may also be optionally
  40.                            copied to the clipboard.

  42.                       5    Running Selections has been enhanced.
  43.                            Filefind now checks the programs as it always
  44.                            did, and if it can not run the file as a
  45.                            program, looks for an associated program in
  46.                            the [Extensions] section of the WIN.INI file.
  47.                            If one is found, the associated program is
  48.                            started and the selected file is passed to it
  49.                            as a runtime parameter.

  51.                       6.   FileView, a file browser, is included.
  52.                            FileView may be run stand alone or as a run
  53.                            option within Filefind.  Windows 2.x/3.x and
  54.                            Windows 3.x versions are included.

  68.                       1    The majority of the dialog boxes have been
  69.                            changed from titled dialog boxes to bordered
  70.                            dialog boxes.  This was done to conform with
  71.                            the application style guidelines.  Similar
  72.                            changes have been made to certain controls
  73.                            (e.g. certain check boxes have been changed
  74.                            to radio buttons to keep with the style
  75.                            guidelines).

  77.                       2    Menu Changes

  79.                       -    The Run and Action menus have been combined
  80.                            into one Action menu.  This was done mostly
  81.                            because I dislike two line menus, was adding
  82.                            the Edit menu and wanted to keep the menu on
  83.                            a single line without forcing the horizontal
  84.                            size to cover the whole screen.

  86.                       -    An Edit menu has been added to support the
  87.                            Copy List and Copy Selections clipboard
  88.                            functions.

  92.                       3    View and Action menu items are grayed when
  93.                            they can not be used rather than giving an
  94.                            error message.

  105.                       1    Fixed crashes that occurred when exiting
  106.                            under Windows 3.0 386 enhanced mode. (rel

  109.                       2    The tab key now stops at the disk drive
  110.                            scroll bars allowing the left and right
  111.                            cursor keys to scroll the drive list.

  113.                       3    Filefind is now fully functional from the
  114.                            keyboard.  The mouse is now optional.

  116.                       4    The filespec edit box allows users to enter a
  117.                            specification containing drives or paths.
  118.                            Prior versions used whatever was entered in
  119.                            the search.  This usually resulted in the

  127.                            disk.  The search specification is now parsed
  128.                            and everything but the filename and extension
  129.                            is ignored.

  131.                       5    Previously, the files listed by the first
  132.                            search done would be in DOS order.  The same
  133.                            search performed a second time would match
  134.                            the tree order.  Now the first search also
  135.                            matches the tree order.

  137.                       6    The <End> key in scrolling has been fixed to
  138.                            always show the last line in the scrolled
  139.                            list.  Left and right cursor keys have been
  140.                            changed to scroll one character rather than a
  141.                            full screen.

  143.                       7    The print function occasionally printed blank
  144.                            pages instead of the file.

  150.                  Version 1.5 includes a number of functional

  157.                            Filefind allows directories to be listed by
  158.                            selecting the desired directory from the tree
  159.                            display.  All files or all files meeting the
  160.                            current search specification may be listed.

  162.                       2    Deselection Changes
  163.                            Deselecting the file list by clicking in the
  164.                            non-client area is no longer supported.
  165.                            Files are now deselected by clicking on a
  166.                            selected file.

  168.                       3    Drive Change Dialogs
  169.                            A separate drive only dialog allows you to
  170.                            bring up a new tree or file list depending on
  171.                            what mode Filefind is in.

  174.                            Filefind may now be started by initiating a
  175.                            file search, a tree listing, or neither.

  177.                       5    Separate Tree Displays

  226.                       1    A print abort dialog has been added.  This
  227.                            was necessary for the print function to work
  228.                            when the windows spooler has been turned off.

  230.                       2    Selecting below the last file in a list
  231.                            caused intermittent failures.
