  25.
  26. Chris's Automobile Recorder keeps a maintenance log for your machine and
  27. reminds you when Preventive Maintenance is due.  It keeps minor cost
  28. statistics, but it is intended to track maintenance, not costs.
  29.
  30. The log consists of `events' such as buying fuel, repairs, inspections, etc.
  31. They are listed by date, and an hourmeter reading is mandatory for some
  32. events, optional on other types.
  33.
  34. When you ~90add~70 an entry to the end of the log, information used to schedule
  35. PM, estimate current hourmeter, etc. will be automatically extracted from it.
  36.
  37. Whenever you ~90delete~70 or ~90insert~70 a Fuel, Inspection, or PM entry, you should
  38. sort the log using the Sort function.  This will extract current PM status
  39. information from the log and recalculate all HPG's.  Otherwise, PM due
  40. dates and hourmeter readings, the estimated hourmeter, and HPG's may be
  41. incorrect.

  48.
  49. From this menu you may select one of several different miscellaneous
  50. functions of this program.
  51.
  52. For information on a function, select it from this menu and then push F1.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      ~90Change Current Hourmeter Estimate Starting Point~70
  53.
  54. The current hourmeter reading for your machine is estimated based on today's
  55. date.  This program looks back and averages how many hours you used the
  56. machine each day since a certain date, and then calculates what today's
  57. hourmeter reading is likely to be.
  58.
  59. This function sets the date and hourmeter reading used as the starting point
  60. for the calculation of the estimated current hourmeter for each day.  You
  61. will want to use this if a change in your usage habits significantly changes
  62. the rate at which you accumulate hours on a machine.  For example, you may
  63. add a second shift, or the season may change.  Just set the hourmeter reading
  64. and date of when your usage habits changed.
  65.
  66. This will not effect other statistics, such as cost per hour.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            ~90Change Expense Calculation Starting Point~70
  67.
  68. This function sets the date and hourmeter used as the starting point for the
  69. calculation of the overall fuel economy and costs per hour.  The totals
  70. of all the expenses and fuel amounts you report after the date selected are
  71. divided by the number of hours you have use the machine since the hourmeter
  72. reading specified to get cost per hour and overall Hours Per Gallon.
  73.
  74. When this program was set up for your machine, it set this date and hourmeter
  75. reading to the date and hourmeter when you purchased the machine.
  76.
  77. You may want to change the date and hourmeter if you do not have complete
  78. cost or maintenance records from the date when you purchased the machine.
  79. Just set the hourmeter reading and date of when your records start.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                ~90Set Default Values~70

  81. If you wish, you can have certain items pre-entered for you on new log entry
  82. forms, things that are often the same time after time.  This is called a
  83. default.  For example, if you always buy the same type of fuel, you could
  84. have this type already entered on the fuel entry form.  You are not forced to
  85. use it, however, and can always change it to what you want.
  86.
  87. If you put a "Y" next to ~;0Use Today's Date~70, the current date will appear
  88. as the date entry on new log entry forms.
  89.
  90. If you make an entry for ~;0Backup Directory~70 then both C.A.R. files for
  91. the current machine will be copied to that directory when the program is

  93.
  94. You may set how far in advance reminders are given for a PM item.  An entry
  95. of 0 days will disable a reminder.  The ~;01st reminder~70 causes an item to
  96. appear in bold white on the PM report.  No beep or warning message will be
  97. given, and CAR /PM will not list or display it.  A suggested number of days
  98. is 14.  The ~;02nd reminder~70 causes an item to appear in bold yellow on the
  99. PM report.  A beep and warning message will be given, and CAR /PM will list
  100. it and pause.  A suggested number of days is 7.
  101.
  102. The ~;0New Hourmeter Adder~70, if not zero, is added to the hourmeter value
  103. entered on all new entries.  This is used if your hourmeter is replaced, just
  104. enter the reading at which it was replaced, or if your hourmeter turns over
  105. at 10,000, enter 10000.
  106.
  107. If ~;0Y~70 is entered for ~;0Mono Monitor~70, the program will think you have
  108. an MDA monitor no matter what.  ~;0N~70 will force C.A.R. to think you have
  109. a color monitor (CGA, EGA, or VGA).  Blank will have C.A.R. decide.
  110.
  111. If ~;0Y~70 is entered for ~;0Don't Use Blue~70, the program will not use
