  8. A.  Here's how you do it:\
  9. \
  10. Use NeXT's Mail application (or Unix mail) and send a message to \
  11.  
  12. \f1 ps-file-server@adobe.com

  14. The message should contain nothing but the word "help" (either in the subject field or in the message text).\
  15. \
  16. In response, the PostScript file server will send you a mail message that explains how to use the system.  It's not an ftp site; it's a mail server, so you send mail requests, and a program parses the request and mails you the info that you requested.\

  18. In reply to the help command you typed above, you'll receive something like this message:\
  19. \

  21. \f1 This message comes to you from the PostScript file server at Adobe Systems,\
  22. ps-file-server@adobe.com. It received a message from you asking for help.\
  23. \
  24. The file server is a mail-response program. That means that you mail it a\
  25. request, and it mails back the response. (Note: the server is entirely\
  26. automated, and the mail is read by programs, not humans.)\
  27. \
  28. The file server understands these commands:  help, index, send, path\
  29. A command must be the first word on a line. More than one command can\
  30. be sent in a message. The Subject: line is treated as a message line.\
  31. Any line that does not begin with a command is ignored.\
  32. \
  33.     help        Returns this message.\
  34.             All other requests are ignored.\
  35.     \
  36.     index        Returns a list of categories.\
  37.             All other send requests are ignored.\
  38.     \
  39.     index <category>    Returns list files available under <category>\
  40.     \
  41.     send <category> <file>    Sends you the requested file.\
  42.                 More than one file may be requested, though\
  43.                 there is a 100k limit on return messages.\

  45.     path <mailpath>    Forces server to use this return path\

  56. To get more help, send another message to the server with:\
  57. "send Documents long.help"\

  59. CAREFUL:\
  60.     Do not send requests from "root" accounts.  The server will\
  61.     reject them in order to prevent long mail loops when mail\
  62.     bounces.\

  64.     Several short requests always work better than one large\
  65.     request.\
