OCR: ARTVILLE STOCKIMAGES SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Macintosh System 7.0 or greater/Windows 3.1 or greater, 5+ megabytes of RAM, 5+ megabytes of free hard disk space, 8-bit color display or greater. GETTING STARTED - MACINTOSH After inserting the disk into your CD-ROM drive, double-click on the "Browser Installer" icon. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the browser. After a system restart, you're ready to use the Kudo Browser. Open the Artville CD-ROM and double-click on the enclosed browser document in the upper-left corner of the window. GETTING STARTED - WINDOWS 95 & WINDOWS NT After inserting the CD-ROM into your computer, click on "Install" and follow the on-screen instructions. If this is not your first installation of an Artville CD-ROM, you will be prompted to overwrite the path CKUDOREADL Click on "Yes" to correctly install your new CD-ROM. To launch the browser, go to the Artville program group from the "Start" menu and select the catalog file for the CD-ROM you want to view. GETTING STARTED - WINDOWS 3.1 After inserting the CD-ROM into your computer, choose "Run" from the "File" menu within the Program Manager. Type D:\STARTUP.EXE and click OK (CD-ROM drives typically use "D" as their drive letter-yours may vary). Click "Install" and follow the on-screen instructions. If this is not your first installation of an Artville CD-ROM, you will be prompted to overwrite the path CKUDOREAD\ Click on "Yes" to correctly install your new CD-ROM. Two program groups, "Kudo Catalog Reader" and "Artville," will have been installed into Windows. To launch the browser, go to the Artville program group and select the catalog file for the CD-ROM you want to view. FILE TYPES Bitmapped images are saved in four versions. Images with file names ending with "LH_JPG" are large-canvas, high-resolution files, and usually contain 29+ MB of image data when uncompressed, Images ending with "MH.JPG" are medium canvas and high resolution files. Images ending with "LL.TIF" and "ML.TIF" are low-resolution versions of the JPG files. Vector-based images are saved in Adobe Illustrator 5.5 format and as EPS files with 8-bit previews for both Macintosh and Windows platforms. Additionally, the files are saved as native CorelDRAW (CDR) and Windows Metafile (WMF) formats. A WORD ABOUT COMPRESSION Artville 65-003 Artville bitmapped files are JPEG compressed, While no image degradation is noticeable after one compression-decompression cycle, subsequent compressions will begin to soften the images. It is important, therefore, never to re-save images as JPEG-compressed liles. See the ReadMe files on the CD-ROM for complete information.
