  27. 1.The Diary of Anne Frank by Anne Frank
  28. 2.The setting of this book is an attic of a building in
  29. Amsterdam during the time period of 1942 to 1944.
  30. 3.The historical period of this book is World War II.
  31. 4.Anne Frank was a young girl who is the author of this
  32. popular diary.  She was thought of by others as conceited
  33. but didn't think so herself.  She was in love with Peter Van
  34. Daan in the attic.
  35. Margot Frank was the older sister of Anne who was considered
  36. smarter and more adultlike than younger sister.  Margot was
  37. also jealous of Anne because of Anne's relationship with
  38. Peter.
  39. Mr.Frank was Anne's father who was kind, forgiving and a
  40. very good father.  He cared for every Jew in the world for
  41. they were all opppressed victims.
  42. Mrs.Frank was a caring mother who was always fare.  She
  43. loved her husband and favored Margot over Anne most of the
  44. time.
  45. Peter Van Daan was Anne's boyfriend who was picked on by
  46. Mr.Dussel.  He loved his father but thought his mother was
  47. a pain.
  48. Mr.Van Daan was a loving father that always stood up for his
  49. son.  He often argued with his wife and Mr.Dussel.
  50. Mrs.Van Daan loved her son, Peter, and her husband, although
  51. they argued most of the time.  She clinged to one material
  52. possession, her fur coat given to her by her father.
  53. Mr.Dussel was a Jewish dentist that picked on Peter van Daan
  54. for every little thing.  He wasn't a very religious Jew, but
  55. he still wore the blue star.
  56. Mr.Kraler was one of the people that helped them survive in
  57. the lonely attic.  He with Koophuis was sent to the camps
  58. with the Jews for housing them.  They both miraculously
  59. survived the camps.
  60. Mr.Koophuis was the manager of the building occupying the
  61. group of Jews.  As I already mentioned, he went to the camps
  62. with the Jews.  He was sick a lot and was always on the edge
  63. of death.
  64. Miep and Eli also helped the families by getting them food
  65. and supplies.  They were very helpful and sometimes helped
  66. them stay alive.
  67. 5.The characters in the book are in hiding because they are
  68. Jewish and during WWII Jews were killed in concentration
  69. camps by the Nazi's.
  70. 6.The Jews in concentration camps were being beaten and
  71. gassed.  The Nazi's used Nerve gas and Mustard gas on the
  72. Jews.  Jews were also being shot and killed for no reason.
  73. 7.This book made me feel sorry for all the Jewish people in
  74. camps and hiding during WWII.  It made me realize how lucky
  75. we are not to be treeated that way.
  76. 8.I think this book was published as a remembrance of what
  77. happened to Jews during WWII.  It was also published to show
  78. how much courage a group of Jewish people had and how they
  79. tried to stay alive.
  80. 9.I would recommend this book to others because it showed
  81. the courage of one group of people trying to stay alive.  It
  82. also showed how Jews were oppressed by the Nazi's.
  83. 10.I think this book is so popular worldwide because it can
  84. so easily reminds us of what happened to Jews in WWII.  It
  85. also shows courage in a group of Jews trapped inside a
  86. building hoping not to be discovered.
