How do I install SSEYO Koan Web and SSEYO Koan Pro Demo ?
=============================================================================
1.Change to the appropriate installation directory, depending on whether or
not you wish to install the 16-bit Koan software for Windows 3.1 or later,
or the 32-bit software for Windows 95 or later.
Run SETUP.EXE. This will install the SSEYO Koan software to a directory
on your hard disk drive, and will automatically start SSEYO Koan Web.
2.Read and agree to the terms of the Software Licenses.
3.If you get no output when Playing Koan files through either SSEYO Koan Web
or SSEYO Koan Pro Demo, then your soundcard is probably not setup
correctly, in which case we recommend you to set the default Windows MIDI
output device to point to your soundcard.
Note that if you are using Windows 3.1, then you should check that your
Windows MIDI Mapper is setup correctly. If you are unfamiliar with the MIDI
Mapper, then please refer to the Windows online help or also the Koan online
help.
4.When you first run SSEYO Koan Pro Demo there will not see any
templates when you create a new piece. You will need to select
the templates you wish to see by selecting File, Create Template
List from the menu.

SSEYO Koan Web and the World Wide Web (WWW)
=============================================================================
Don't forget that you can use SSEYO Koan Web V1.0 to play back Koan pieces
over the Internet ! Koan Web is ideally suited for use as a helper application
for WWW browsers like Microsoft Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator and
Mosaic.
If you visit the SSEYO Web Site (http://www.sseyo.com) with a Web Browser,
and "click" on a Koan Piece hotlink (e.g. to Mythous) on one of our Web pages,
then that file is automatically downloaded to your machine by your Web browser,
and played for you by Koan Web! We encourage you to try this at your first
opportunity !
You can create your own pieces for use on the web with the full version of
SSEYO Koan Pro. See our web page for more details (http://www.sseyo.com).

Setting up Koan Web as a World-Wide-Web helper application
=============================================================================
If the association of Koan Web files is not already setup for you in your
Web Browser package, then do not worry - it is *very* easy to manually set-up
Koan Web as a World-Wide-Web browser helper application. All you have to do
is either :
A) Download a Koan file and set up SSEYO Koan Web as a
helper application on the fly ...
1.Click on a Koan file hotlink to download it.
2.You will get a message saying that it is an Unknown
file type and asking you if you want to set up a
helper application/pick an application.
3.Select SSEYO Koan Web as your helper application
(it will be where you installed it, most likely in one of
the C:\KOAN16 or C:\KOAN32 directories) as your external viewer.
B) Setup SSEYO Koan Web as a helper application in advance ...
For Microsoft Internet Explorer, you can use the
Explore | Options dialog to associate SSEYO Koan file
extensions (SKP, SKD, SKT, MID) with the SSEYO Koan Web
program.
For Netscape Navigator:
1.Select Options|Preferences|Helpers (pre V2.0) or
Options|General Preferences |Helpers (V2.0).
2.Add a new Helper application with MIME type
application, and MIME Subtype x-koan and File
extensions skp, skd, skt, skm.
3.Under Action, select Launch Application and add SSEYO
Koan Web which you will have installed earlier.
For other Web Browsers :
Refer to the on-line help that came with your Web Browser.

Remember to check out our Website for new demos!!!
The Koan GiftBox page (http://www.sseyo.com/koangbox.html)
includes a number of Koan files you can freely use on your own
website to 'Koan enable' it. Why not give it a go? It is really
easy to do - see the Adding Koan page (http://www.sseyo.com/addkoan.html)

SSEYO Koan Pro V1.2 Demo
=============================================================================
Additions to Koan Pro V1.2 Demo over V1.1
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
* New Koan ADSR controller parameters - See online help !
Allows you to mimic ADSR (Attack/Decay/Sustain/Release) on soundcards
that do not have these facilities (great for ambient type music) and
that have support for continuous volume controllers (i.e. not OPL2/OPL3
chipset based cards).
* Now available in 16 bit and 32 bit versions !
* New compressed Koan file sizes:
This version of SSEYO Koan Pro V1.2 Demo has a new SSEYO Koan Music
Engine (SKME) which plays the new compressed Koan files (typically reduced
down to one tenth the size of previous files). It also plays earlier
file versions.
* AWE32 and Gravis Dialogs in Piece View 3.
* New menu item File Connect to the SSEYO Web Page and new addition to
the Options Setup Options dialog, Define Web Browser.
These allow you to connect directly to the SSEYO Web page if you
have a modem and dialup service provider and you have a WWW Browser
set up and configured on your PC. Note that once you are connected,
and if you have set up SSEYO Koan Pro Demo to be you helper application
for skd files then you might need to close SSEYO Koan Pro Demo before
you download (via hot-links) any SKD files that may be on the WWW.
Whether or not you need to do this depends on your browser application.
* 32 bit version has a true multithreaded composer.
* Fixes and continuous refinement.
Notes
+++++
* Importing of patterns: This version only allows the importing of
one pattern to a pattern group.
* Modulation controller has no effect on MIDI line 10. We have had to
disable this controller to avoid problems inherent in Gravis Ultrasound
drivers.
* Should your demo version not include the DYNAMO SoundFont bank
(DYNAMO.SBK) you can download this and other demo files from our
Website or our CompuServe forum section.
* AWE32 Pitch Intial (View 12) is active when between -8192 an +8191
The Off value is -8193. If you set it to a very high or low value
(e.g. -8192) it is possible you will not be able to hear the voice
play at all as it will be out of audible range.
* Reverb and Chorus are not supported by some soundcards, including the
Gravis UltraSound.
