  13. General instructions for Novell NetWare* Client Services under Windows NT
  14. using the ODI server driver.
  15. =========================================================================

  17. 1  Install the Novell NetWare Client Services per the instructions
  18.    provided by Novell.
  19.    
  20.    Note: If the NDIS driver for the PRO/100B is installed and you want to
  21.          us the NetWare 32 ODI LAN driver, remove the NDIS driver from NT
  22.          before going to step 2.  Novell NetWare Client service can be
  23.          run with the NDIS 3 driver.

  25. 2  Start Windows NT and log in as ADMINISTRATOR (or another valid user
  26.    name).
  27.  
  28. 3  Double-click the "Network" icon in the Control Panel. The "Network
  29.    Settings" screen appears.
  30.  
  31. 4  Select the Adapter tab.
  32.  
  33. 5  Click the "Add" button.
  34.  
  35. 6  Click the Have Disk button.
  36.  
  37. 7  Insert the Intel Configuration and Drivers Disk into your floppy drive
  38.    and type A:\nwserver.  Click OK to continue.
  39.  
  40. 8  When "ODI Intel EtherExpress PRO/100B adapter for NetWare" appears,
  41.    click OK.
  42.  
  43. 9  After the files are copied, the default driver settings will be
  44.    displayed (they'll be displayed with their defaults which in most
  45.    cases is OK).  Click OK when correct.
  46.    
  47.    NOTE: Do not click on Advanced Settings.  See the section titled
  48.    Advanced Setting below.
  49.  
  50.    Speed: Specifies the line speed of the adapter.
  51.              0    =    Auto detect (default)
  52.              10   =    10 Mbps
  53.              100  =    100 Mbps
  54.

  56.    ForceDuplex:
  57.  
  58.    Note: The PRO/100B T4 adapter does not support full duplex at 100
  59.    Mbps.  It does at 10 Mbps.  The PRO/100B TX adapter supports full
  60.    duplex at 10 and 100 Mbps

  62.              0 = auto-negotiate (default)
  63.              1 = half duplex
  64.              2 = full duplex
  65.       
  66.       Note: If the adapter is set to half or full duplex, set the SPEED
  67.             parameter to either 10 or 100. (see SPEED)

  69. 10 You will have to restart Windows NT to complete the installation.

  72. Advanced Settings
  73. =================

  75. Only select Advanced Settings if you want to use local Administration of
  76. Addressing or use multiple Intel EtherExpress PRO/100B adapters. Entering
  77. Advanced Setting requires that you know the slot number the adapter is
  78. using.

  80. 1  To get to Advanced Setting from the Network Dialog box selected the
  81.    Adapters tab and highlight the ODI Intel EtherExpress PRO/100B adapter
  82.    and click Configure.

  84. 2  Click Advanced.
  85.  
  86. 3  There are 2 advanced options, Node Address Override and Slot.
  87.  
  88.    NODE ADDRESS OVERRIDE: Use this option to provide your own unique node
  89.    address for the adapter.  The node address is a 12-digit hexadecimal
  90.    number; the second digit must be one of the following digits: 2, 6, A,
  91.    E.

  93.    SLOT: Select the slot number the adapter is in. Only necessary if
  94.    multiple PRO/100B adapter cards are being used.  Before clicking OK,
  95.    you must enter a valid slot number.  To exit without saving a slot
  96.    number, click Cancel.
