- In the root directory you will find the following files:
-
- README.NOW - This file.
- INSTALL.CMD - This program is for OS/2 users. It can be used
- to install over 20 packages including OS/2 from this CD
- ROM. These packages include Beta IBM products and
- selected Productivity Tools.
- INSTALL.BAT - This program is for DOS users to install OS/2 from CD ROM
- (only OS/2 is installed with this program).
- MMPM2UPD.LST - file used by the system

- To install OS/2 Beta using your CD ROM drive on a system running DOS:
-
- From your CD ROM drive, type 'INSTALL'.
- (you will need 2 blank 2.0MB diskettes and you will be labelling them
- 'INSTALLATION' and 'Operating System/2 Diskette 1')
-
- After you have followed the directions, you will be asked to reboot
- your system.

- <Please go to the section titled 'Welcome to OS/2'>.

- To install OS/2 Beta using your CD ROM drive on a system running OS/2:
-
- From your CD ROM drive, type 'INSTALL'.
- Select 'Install OS/2 2.0 Beta from CD ROM' from the menu.
- You will then have to select (highlight) your SCSI adapter type from the
- menu of choices.
- Note: if you have IBM equipment and an IBM SCSI adapter, your choice
- is easy, choose 'IBM SCSI IBM SCSI Adapter'
- Click on 'ADD'.
- Go to the configuring screen (one of the background windows) and you
- will be prompted for Source Floppy Drive
- Note: you will need 2 blank 2.0MB diskettes to create
- 'OS/2 Installation Diskette' and
- 'OS/2 Install Disk 1 with <adapter card name>'
- Once the diskettes are created and labelled, put the
- 'OS/2 Installation Diskette' in drive A and reboot your system.

- Welcome to OS/2
-
- On the 'Welcome to OS/2 Screen' you will see a message that you need
- OS/2 diskettes 1 through 14 to complete installation. You may ignore
- this message and press enter to continue installing from the CD ROM.
- The screens that will appear are the same as the OS/2 2.0 install screens
- but you are installing from CD ROM rather than diskettes.

- You will see an error message from the CONFIG.SYS flash by. Please
- IGNORE this message.
-
- When you are asked to make your selection, please select 'USER SELECTED
- FEATURES' (not Install All of OS/2). If you don't, your CD ROM drive
- will not be configured. Select 'MORE' to the right of CD ROM Device
- support and check IBM CD ROM Device Drivers.

- At the end of the install you will see the final OS/2 Setup and
- Installation screen, which asks you to 'Remove the diskette from Drive
- A' and 'Press Enter to restart your system'. IGNORE this screen and
- press CTL-ALT-DEL to restart your system. (Make sure that the diskette
- has been removed from Drive A).

- OS/2 is now installed and will start up. It is important
- that when OS/2 starts up for the first time YOU DO A 'SHUTDOWN'.
-
- As soon as the disk light turns off and the desktop appears set up,
- please do a 'SHUTDOWN'. Follow the message to restart your system.

- INSTALLING the other products on the CD ROM
-
- From the CD ROM drive, type 'INSTALL' and select whatever products you
- want to install on your hardfile.

- Note: You may want to create install diskettes if you want to install
- this OS/2 Beta code on other systems that do not have a CD ROM drive.
- (The license agreement permits you to make 9 additional copies of the
- programs on the CD ROM). You would select 'Create IBM Beta Product
- Diskettes Only' from the Install menu.

- Note: The Novell NetWare Requester is included in this package. You
- must read and accept the IBM NetWare License agreement before using the
- code. This license agreement can be found on the Novell Netware
- documentation diskette.
