  5. A: It's free!

  7. Q: What are the system requirements?

  10. A: Basically AmigaAMP runs fine on any stock Amiga with at least a 68030-50 MHz
  11. processor. However, if you want to be able to play Layer3 without downsampling
  12. and quality loss you need at least a 68060-50. Be prepared to face heavy system
  13. load!  :-) If you've got a PowerPC you can play Layer3 streams in the background
  14. without noticeable system slowdown at all. For the NewGUI (WinAMP lookalike)
  15. modes a graphics card is a must!  The GadTools interface works well on the
  16. legacy ECS/AGA display modes though.

  18. Q: I can't get the spectrum analyzer to work. Why?

  21. A: The spectrum analyzer needs AmigaOS 3.1 and PowerUP to run. If one of the
  22. two is missing it will be simply switched off. If you don't have 3.1 by now,
  23. rush to the nearest shop and buy it!  :-)

  25. Q: How can I use the WinAMP skins?

  28. A: All the texture sets reside in a subdirectory called skins relatively to the
  29. place where you've installed the AmigaAMP executable. If you're starting
  30. AmigaAMP from the commandline just add the keyword NewGUI. If you're running it
  31. from Workbench, just add the keyword NEWGUI to the icon's tooltypes.

  33. Q: Do I have to convert the skins first?
  34.

  36. A: No. Each skin consists of several Windows BMP pictures. If you have a
  37. datatype installed that can handle those, there's no need to convert them. If
  38. you're in doubt you can try loading the pictures into MultiView. If it fails
  39. you'll have to find another datatype or convert the pictures to IFF.

  41. Q: It seems to be playing but I can't hear anything!

  44. A: Probably you've chosen the wrong AHI driver. Start the AHI preferences and
  45. load Paula/ahi.prefs from the AmigaAMP directory by selecting Project->Open. If
  46. you're a Prelude owner try Prelude/ahi.prefs instead. Alternatively you can
  47. copy the config file directly to ENVARC:sys/ahi.prefs and reboot your machine.
  48. Have a look at the manual about how to choose the correct driver. Due to
  49. limitations of some AHI modes you can't always turn the volume slider higher
  50. than 0dB!
