NOTES FOR USE OF STSMIR.ICN SATELLITE ICON FILE
-----------------------------------------------
1. File STSMIR.ICN is a satellite icon file for use with STSORBIT PLUS,
Version 9517 or higher. It depicts the space shuttle docked on the
Russian Mir Space Station.
2. In order to use STSMIR.ICN, the file must be copied to a new file
which has a name of the form "#nnnnn.ICN", where "nnnnn" is the five
digit NORAD Number of the space shuttle mission. If the NORAD Number
of the space shuttle mission is 23667, then use the following DOS
command to create the new icon file:
COPY STSMIR.ICN #23667.ICN
The following sample space shuttle 2-line elements illustrate how to
determine the NORAD Number. It is the five digit number in positions
3 through 7 of the two data lines, "23667" in the sample. Note that
the NORAD Number is DIFFERENT for each space shuttle mission!
STS-69
1 23667U 95048A 95258.75184171 .00004231 00000-0 26175-4 0 214
2 23667 28.4677 345.8474 0006602 289.6013 179.2888 15.75825682 1281
3. If Mir 2-line elements are being used instead of space shuttle 2-line
elements, use the following DOS command:
COPY STSMIR.ICN #16609.ICN
The following sample MIR 2-line elements illustrate the data.
Mir
1 16609U 86017A 95184.18095677 .00023042 00000-0 31629-3 0 1115
2 16609 51.6466 77.6354 0003413 168.7962 191.3097 15.57219735535428
4. STSORBIT PLUS will automatically select the ICN file if present. Once
the space shuttle undocks from Mir, delete the #nnnnn.ICN file created
in Step 2 or Step 3 and the satellite icon will return to normal.
