- \mb\n2\c3What is the command you wish to receive help on? \i1
- \t1SC\\ea\db
- \ma\n1Format: SC <3-15>
- \n1This command will allow you to visually see what is surrounding your ship.
- You can alter the size of this display by following "SC" by a number between
- 3 and 15. A map size of 3 is very small, while a map of 15 is quite large. The
- default setting is 8. Symbols in the SCAN include:\n1
- . Empty space sector\n1 @ Neutral Planet\n1 * Star
- ! Empty space\n1 XX Stargate\n1 ## Space Mine
- $$ Friendly base\n1 // Enemy base\n1 ++ Friendly planet
- -- Enemy planet\n1
- Also included in the SCAN are first letters of other starships that may be
- close to your ship. Other letters will include L,N,R,S,V for the Coalition
- side, and D,G,H,T,W for the Empire side. The Acheron is denoted with an A.
- \n1One note: The numbers that appear across the TOP of the scan are the X
- coordinates, while the numbers that appear along the SIDES of the scan are the
- Y coordinates. X ALWAYS comes before Y in this game.\n2 11 13 15
- 26 . . @ . . 26\n125 . . . . . 25\n1 11 13 15\n2The NEUTRAL PLANET in
- above example lies at the coordinates 13-26. (X=13,Y=26)
- \x1
- \mb\t1RA\\ea\db
- \ma\n1Format: RA <On/Off/Gag> <Ship(s) to be GAGged>
- \n1This command will allow you to have your radio ON, OFF or GAGged. If it is
- OFF, your ship will receive NO transmissions from other starships. If it is
- ON, your radio will receive all transmissions. You can also specify any ship
- names that you do NOT want to receive transmissions from. This is what is
- called GAGGING another ship. To GAG a specific ship, simply enter the first
- letter of its name. You can also GAG more than one ship at a time. For
- example, entering RA GAG RNSW will GAG the R,N,S,and W starships. (Also note
- that if either of those ships is currently GAGged, they will now be un-GAGged.
- This function works as a toggle device). You may use other Keywords such as
- ALL, ENE, EMP, and COA.\n1\x1
- \mb\t1SH\\ea\db
- \ma\n1Format: SH <On/Off>
- \n1This command will allow you to raise or lower the deflector shields.
- Lowering the shields will provide less energy to be consumed when performing
- such functions as firing Phasers, using the Warp Drive, Building, etc.
- However, if you are hit by an opposing force while your shields are down, you
- may sustain serious damage to your starship. You may even be destroyed by only
- one shot.
- \x1
- \mb\t1BU\\ea\db
- \ma\n1Format: BU <X-Coordinate> <Y-Coordinate>
- \n1This command will BUILD military forces onto a friendly planet. A planet
- with 4 BUILDS will resist capture from an enemy force a lot longer than a
- planet with no BUILDS. A planet becomes a starbase when 5 BUILDS are done on
- it. The advantage to having a starbase over a planet is that a starbase
- cannot be captured--it must be destroyed.
- \x1
- \mb\t1CA\\ea\db
- \ma\n1Format: CA <X-Coordinate> <Y-Coordinate>
- \n1Your starship can capture Neutral planets and enemy planets ONLY. If an
- enemy planet has military builds on it, you may experience great resistance
- while attempting to capture it. You may have better luck using your PHASERS to
- destroy the builds. Once the planet is captured, it becomes part of your
- side's property. It can be built into a base, or just left as a planet. See
- the help on BUILD for more information.
- \x1
- \mb\t1CH\\ea\db
- \ma\n1Format: CH
- \n1Will attempt to page the SysOp for chat. If the SysOp answers, the game
- will continue, but you will have no control until the SysOp returns you to the
- game. It would be wise not to chat for too long, or you could be destroyed.
- \x1
- \mb\t1DA\\ea\db
- \ma\n1Format: DA
- \n1This command will display a list of all damaged areas of the ship. These
- areas can be repaired using the "REPAIR" command. They can also be repaired by
- DOCKING at a friendly base.
- \x1
- \mb\t1DO\\ea\db
- \ma\n1Format: DO
- \n1This command will allow your starship to DOCK at a friendly base or planet
- as long as it is adjacent it. DOCKing will replenish your Energy supply as
- well as attempt to repair your starship if it sustained a lot of damage. Also
- note that repairs can only be done on a Starbase, and if you have sustained a
- lot of damage, it could take some time!
- \x1
- \mb\t1EN\\ea\db
- \ma\n1Format: EN <+/- Energy units>
- \n1This command will allow you to transfer energy from one energy bank to
- another. Please note that Shields MUST be raised before this command is
- attempted. By entering a positive number value following the "EN", your
- engineer will attempt to transfer energy FROM the main energy banks TO the
- Shields' banks. This is quite useful when in a battle and are nowhere near a
- friendly base or planet. By entering a negative value following the "EN", your
- engineer will attempt to transfer energy FROM the Shields' banks TO the main
- energy banks. This is useful when not in battle, but low on energy. Possibly
- not enough to make it to a starbase or planet. If the engineer is unsuccessful
- in the transfer of energy, he will let you know through the ship's computer. A
- reason also will be stated.
- \x1
- \mb\t1HI\\ea\db
- \ma\n1Format: HI
- \n1This will display the top five scorers of the game, the points they have
- accumulated, and the current rank they are at. The High Scores list is updated
- once each player is done playing--not during the game.
- \x1
- \mb\t1LI\\ea\db
- \ma\n1Format: LI <ENE,EMP,COA,ALL,BA,PL,SH> <BA,PL,SH>
- \n1This will list possessions belonging to each side. Enemy possessions are
- listed only if the sensors can detect them. One or two keywords may be used if
- a certain possession is desired. Keywords are as follows:\n1
- ENE Enemy
- COA Coalition
- EMP Empire
- ALL Both Coalition and Empire
- BA Bases
- PL Planets
- SH Ships\n1
- You will be given a listing of all possessions that you requested. A sample
- line may look like this:\n1
- Coa Planet(3) @35-15 -7,2
- -----A---- B ---C-- --D-
- A = The possession's name (in this case Coa Planet)
- B = How many builds this planet has (does not appear on bases)
- C = The coordinates of planet
- D = The RELATIVE position to your ship. In other words, if you typed
- "MO R -7 2" in this case, your starship will attempt to move to the exact
- location of this planet.
- \n1Another listing may look like:\n1
- Emp Base @45-63 -15,7; 96.3%
- ---A---- ---B-- --C-- --D--
- A = Name of possession
- B = The base's coordinates
- C = The relative position to your ship
- D = The shield strength of the base. 100.0% means fully operational.
- \x1
- \mb\t1MO\\ea\db
- \ma\n1Format: MO <R> <X-Coordinate/Relative> <Y-Coordinate/Relative>
- \n1This command will allow you to move your starship via warp drive to another
- destination. Note that there is a maximum number of units that each ship can
- travel, and high units can damage the warp drive at times. This command is
- best explained using examples.
- \n1While at coordinates 20-35, your starship wishes to move to 25-30. Two
- different methods can be used to accomplish this goal.\n2MO 25 30\n1MO R 5
- -5\n2Both will put your starship at 25-30. The Relative marker is extremely
- useful if you do not know exactly where you want to go. By entering R and two
- numbers, your ship will move that many units from your current position. Enter
- "MO R -2 2" will move your ship two units to the LEFT and two units UP.
- Enter "MO R 2 -2" will move your ship tw units to the RIGHT and two units
- DOWN.
- \x1
- \mb\t1PH\\ea\db
- \ma\n1Format: PH <C> <X-Coordinate/Ship Initial/Energy> <Y-Coordinate>
- \n1This command will allow you to fire your phasers at an enemy or neutral
- target. If firing at another starship, you may utilize the "C" factor. Meaning
- if you do not know the exact coordinates of the opposing starship, you can
- simply enter:\n2"PH C "\n2followed by the first letter of the ship you wish to
- fire upon. You may also specify how much energy you would like to use. Here
- are some examples and what they do:\n1
- "PH C R"
- will fire 500 units of energy at the "R" starship
- "PH C 800 R"
- will fire 800 units of energy at the "R" starship
- "PH 30 25"
- will fire 500 units of energy at the coordinates 30-25
- "PH 800 30 25"
- will fire 800 units of energy at the coordinates 30-25
- \n1Note that phasers must be able to lock onto a target before being fired. If
- you specify a high amount of energy to be dispursed upon firing, you may
- damage the phasers.
- \x1
- \mb\t1PO\\ea\db
- \ma\n1Format: PO
- \n1This command will display all points that you have accumulated since you
- began playing SPACEWARS. Negative values reflect points you have LOST.
- \x1
- \mb\t1Q\\ea\db
- \ma\n1Format: QU
- \n1This command will save all your stats and exit the game. You will be
- returned to the PFiles: prompt. If you are the only player playing, you may
- experience a slight delay.\n1\x1
- \mb\t1RE\\ea\db
- \ma\n1Format: RE <device>
- \n1This command will allow you to repair a damaged device while in flight.
- Note that if your starship is severely crippled, the repairs may not be able
- to be done. If more than one device is damaged, you may enter "RE ALL" and the
- repair team assigned to your starship will attempt to repair all devices on
- your starship. If repairs cannot be made while in flight, you MUST dock at a
- starbase to make repairs. Repair teams stationed there can assist your team in
- repairs. But note that repairs may take a while if your ship is badly damaged!
- \x1
- \mb\t1SE\\ea\db
- \ma\n1Format: SE
- \n1This command acts as a toggle. When the game is first played, your level is
- set at BEGINNER. Entering this command will put you in EXPERT mode. In
- Beginner's mode, you will be notified of a few things in your ship. Possible
- prompt could look like this:\n2\c2Command (SED#3):\n2\c3The prompt's color
- (if your term supports color) signifies the status of your ship
- (Green/Yellow/Red). The S in the paranthesis notes that your shields are low
- on energy or are lowered completely. The E means your starship is critically
- low on Energy. The D means that your starship is DOCKED. And the #3 indicates
- how many enemy forces are in range.
- In EXPERT mode, you are simply prompted with a ">" sign.
- \x1
- \mb\t1ST\\ea\db
- \ma\n1Format: ST
- \n1This command will allow you to learn about your stardate, starship
- condition and location, torpedo and energy capacity, damage report, shield
- strength, and radio status.
- \x1
- \mb\t1TA\\ea\db
- \ma\n1Format: TA
- \n1This command will display all enemy or neutral targets that are within
- firing distance. Please note that you may fire upon possessions that appear
- on this list ONLY! Included on each line of targets are the (a) Name of
- target, (b) Coordinates of target, (c) Relative position to your starship,
- and (d) Shield strength of the target if it is a base or ship, or Number of
- builds if it is a planet.\n1
- Coa Planet(4) @13-64 +4,-5\n1----A----- D --B-- --C--\n1\x1
- \mb\t1TE\\ea\db
- \ma\n1Format: TE <Ship(s)/Keyword>
- \n1This command will allow you to send a sub-space message to other starships.
- You can also relay messages to the Acherons if you choose. After selecting
- what ship or ships the message is to be sent to, you will be prompted to enter
- UP TO 80 characters of a message. Once you press RETURN, the computer will
- list all ships that received the transmission. If nothing is printed, then the
- message was not received by anyone. Keywords include:
- \n1ENE, EMP, COA, ALL. To specify more than one ship, enter the ship initials
- all together. eg. entering "TE WRDH" would attempt to send messages to the "W"
- "R", "D", and "H" starships.\n1\x1
- \mb\t1TO\\ea\db
- \ma\n1Format:TO <C> <X/Dispersal number/Ship Init> <Y/Ship Init>
- \n1See help on the "PH" command for more information. Example of TORPEDO
- formats:\n2"TO C 3 R"\n1 Fire three torpedoes at the "R" starship
- "TO 3 45 71"\n1 Fire three torpedoes at target at 45-71.
- \n1Please note that torpedoes can NOT travel through solid objects, so make
- sure you calculate the distance perfectly! You will be penalized for
- destroying stars and planets. If your torpedo hits a star in its path, the
- star will become a Nova for a brief instant and lash out against your ship.
- And be advised that this blast could severly cripple your starship! If the
- torpedo doesn't hit its target within 10 sectors, it will automatically
- self-destruct.\n1\x1
- \mb\t1US\\ea\db
- \ma\n1Format:US
- \n1Lists all users playing the SpaceWars game with you at that time. Included
- in the listing is information such as Rank of player, the total points that
- player has accumulated before playing, as well as what side he is playing for.
- \x1
- \mb\n1The command you entered is invalid. Please enter a valid one and try
- again.
