DOCUMENTATION FOR TV SPORTS: FOOTBALL TEAM EDITOR
--------------------------------------------------------
Portions of this program are copyright (c) 1987, True Basic, Inc.
TV Sports: Football is copyright (c) 1988, Cinemaware Corporation
--------------------------------------------------------
This program is in the public domain. It may be freely distributed by
anyone who may acquire it.
--------------------------------------------------------
This editor gives you the opportunity to change several aspects of any
league disk for TV Sports: Football. It holds several advantages over the
editor in the original game. One advantage is that it is much faster than
the editor in the game, which is very slow responding to keyboard input.
Another advantage is that you do not have to concern yourself with the
"rank" of each player. Any player can have any ability rated from 1 to 8.
The most significant advantage is that you can change the jersey colors
of teams if you prefer one over another. The editor is pretty self
explanatory, but here are the details of the functions of each menu item-
WARNING: No guarantees are expressed or implied about the ability of this
program to work correctly. You should always work on a backup disk of
REEL2! If you do not, you could damage it seriously.
PROJECT NEW
When you first load the editor, it will ask for you to insert a "REEL2"
disk in any drive. It will then load the first team ("Anaheim") from that
disk. If you wish to edit a second disk, simply select this option and
insert the new disk.
PROJECT SAVE
This option saves all of your edits back to the disk you are editing.
WARNING: one bug in this version of the editor is that you must "change"
teams once before you save or the last team you edited will not be saved.
Example: if you finished your final edit on New York, change teams to
Green Bay or some other team before saving or the changes to New York
will not be recorded.
PROJECT PRINT
This option prints the team that is currently being shown on the screen.
PROJECT QUIT
Terminates the program and returns control to the Workbench or CLI.
NFC AND AFC MENUS
The original team names are included on these menus. While you are free to
change the team names or abbreviations, the corresponding team abbreviation
from the original disk will always be shown on this menu.
Use this menu item to select the team you wish to edit.
PLAYER
If you wish to change the name and/or statistics of a player on the current
team, select the position of the player you wish to edit. The editor will
prompt you for input. You should type in the player name, followed by a
comma, followed by the four ability ratings, each separated by a comma.
Example: John Elway,4,4,4,3
In this example, John Elway is given a four in speed, a four in strength,
a four in hands, and a three in ability. (Of course, Elway's ratings
would probably be much higher than this.)
SPECS CITY
Select this option and enter the new name for the city. Try to keep it
below 13 characters.
SPECS ABBREV
Select this option to change a team's abbreviation. Keep this under 4
characters.
SPECS OWNER
If the current owner is "1", that means that the team is computer owned.
You should select this option to change it to a "0" (for a human owned
team). You may also change a team's owner from 0 to 1 using this option.
COLOR
Each team has a jersey color that is used when it is the visiting team.
The number which is shown on the editor beside color reflects the current
color of the team-
1. Grey
2. Red
3. Purple
4. Blue
5. Yellow
6. Orange
If you would like a different jersey color for your team, simply select
this option and it will be automatically changed.
I hope you enjoy the program. Please report bugs to me as soon as they
are spotted. My handles are- Compuserve: 71071,2500 PLink: sru516

BY THE WAY...
If you would like the chance to place your favorite pro team in a user-
created database of REAL teams, download the file FOOTBALL.ARC. A lot of
Amiga users would appreciate any contribution you might be able to make
to this effort!
