------ Stamp Pad Icon ------
The icon for Stamp Pad will not install in Windows
automatically with the install program. This is because
Stamp Pad is a DOS program (even though it will run
in Windows).
Stamp Pad has an icon in the subdirectory where the
program is located. If you want to change the icon to
a more attractive one, follow the directions below.
To change the Stamp Pad icon:
1. While in the Program Manager, select the icon that is
currently used for Stamp Pad.
2. From the File menu, select Properties.
3. In the Program Item Properties dialog box, choose the
Change Icon button.
4. Press OK when the message box appears stating that
there are no available icons for the specified file.
This message is irrelevant.
4. Instead of selecting an icon from the ones shown, in
the File Name box, type the file name below and then
press ENTER:
c:\dw_share\stamp\stamp.ico
5. In the Program Item Properties dialog box, choose
the OK button.
NOTE: If you are a new computer user and are unable to
understand the above instructions, just use the icons that
are already there. Changing the icons is for appearance
only, they do not affect the program.
------ Program Performance ------
Stamp Pad will run in Windows if you have enough
memory available. If you find that it performs poorly
while running it in Windows, then you do not have
enough memory available. For better performance, exit
Windows and run it in DOS. Do not select the MS-DOS
Prompt icon in Windows but rather exit Windows completely.
You need 512K of conventional memory available to run
Stamp Pad. Your DOS manual has information about
memory management.
------ No Mouse Found ------
If you get the error message "No mouse found" while
trying to load Stamp Pad, that means that your mouse
driver is not loaded. Stamp Pad requires a mouse.
Even though your mouse may be working in Windows, your
mouse driver may not be loaded because DOS does not load
it automatically unless you have your autoexec.bat file
doing so. To install your mouse driver, exit Windows and
change to the directory (usually c:\mouse or c:\windows)
that has your mouse driver (usually mouse.com or mouse.sys)
and run that file (type MOUSE). If you are successful, a
message will be displayed that will state that your mouse
driver has been installed. The manual that came with your
mouse has additional information. Your DOS manual has
information about loading your mouse automatically in
DOS. Check the section in your DOS manual about including
files in your autoexec.bat file.
