¢ o=o=o=o=o=¢¢ PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE¢ by Jack GedaliuS¢¢ September--October, 1999¢¢¢ At our September meeting Ron Fetzer¢ demoed the ABBUC special disk no. 25¢ which had a game called Hereth II.¢¢ Al Sharkis demoed our last newsletter¢ which had the game Hot Lips. It is¢ similar to Pac Man. It's cute!¢ There were no side entrances as are¢ found in Pac Man. He also demoed¢ Space Ace which is similar to Space¢ Invaders. On the opposite side is a¢ business program consisting of¢ calculation of amortization and other¢ types of conversion factors.¢¢ Do you know that this is the¢ twentieth year of the Atari¢ platform?¢¢ At our October meeting the club¢ demoed a tutoring program for¢ beginners of Atari basic which¢ consisted of graphics and sound parts¢ in basic. These were on cassettes.¢ Therefore, voice was available in¢ aiding the learner in the program.¢¢ Ron Fetzer demoed ABBUC disk no. 58¢ which has many programs. I will¢ mention a few of them:¢¢ Illusion # 3, which is a sound¢ demo, showed three musicians on¢ screen, 0ne with a keyboard, one¢ with a guitar, and one with a¢ drum. The graphics were¢ excellent.¢¢ Dangerous Street is a game¢ having dogs, cats, and cars on¢ the street. One must cross¢ the street while avoiding these¢ obstacles. You may even shoot¢ at the cars!¢¢ Another program is SIO Routing¢ and Patches for an IDE interface¢ produced in Germany.¢¢ This disk has tests to check out your¢ joystick. It also had a modified¢ file handler, micropainter for 62-¢ sector format pictures, Sparta Dos¢ text files showing how to make 80-¢ column screens.
