¢ o=o=o=o=o=¢¢ MINUTES OF OHAUG MEETING 2/21/98¢¢ Meeting opened with our President¢ JACK GEDALIUS showing videos of the¢ past two years Holiday parties. A¢ discussion followed led by John¢ Hardie about a two day show called¢ ATARI WORLD on a Saturday/Sunday¢ which he will attend and invited our¢ group to attend. This show is still¢ being organized. It was supposed to¢ take place in August at Disnyland in¢ California, but the site will¢ probably be changed to Las Vegas. ¢ Official announcement will be¢ forthcoming in a week or two. John¢ will have OHAUG publicity flyers to¢ distribute at the show. It is¢ important for those of you who are at¢ all interested in this show that you¢ fill out a survey form on John's WEB¢ site. The URL iss www.atarihq.com,¢ and the page is worth visiting,¢ survey or not. Other Atari websites¢ also have this survey form on them. ¢ The organizers of the show will not¢ proceed with it unless they get 1000¢ completed surveys. There are over¢ 500 now, but many more are needed.¢¢ TREASURER'S REPORT:¢¢ We're in the black.¢¢ Also, RON FETZER says we have the new¢ list of members 40 active members¢ right now as of February. ALAN says¢ we also have quite a few clubs who¢ receive our Newsletters, RON says¢ about 60 clubs now. Also, we lost¢ about ten members including AL¢ MANNELLA who got an IBM, and also¢ VALERIO CORAZZIN. ¢¢ A discussion then followed which was¢ started by RON FETZER asking JACK to¢ exchange some lyra at the airport for¢ him. Ron received this money from a¢ member for dues, and we must have¢ American currency for our bank. This¢ led into a discussion about the new¢ American paper money and how funny it¢ looks.¢¢ AL SHARKIS didn't have any demos for¢ today but instead stated that he has¢ received ten sides worth of¢ documentation, mostly on games, from¢ SAM CORY of JACG. Alan offered them¢ to our Librarian. He mentioned that¢ he received several post cards from¢ JOSEPH HICSWA, one mentioned that he¢ would like to send out a general¢ referendum question that we start¢ producing the Newsletter on 16 bit¢ disks so people who have ST's can¢ read the Newsletter. ALAN knows that¢ none of our local members uses an ST,¢ so it wouldn't be practical to¢ produce these disks. He also reasons¢ that if JOE can hand out printouts¢ of our newsletter articles at a JACG¢ meeting (Joe is also President¢ Emeritus of JACG,) there really is no¢ need for us to produce articles on¢ those disks. The local membership¢ agreed.¢¢ DEMONSTRATIONS:¢¢ PAT MULVEY came up to the front of¢ the room with a block of wood and a¢ piece of cable. Using a round-top¢ stapler and staples he found at a¢ local Wallmart, he showed us how this¢ equipment is inexpensive and much¢ easier to handle than the insulated¢ staples most people use to fasten¢ wires to baseboard.¢¢ Then AL SHARKIS briefly demo'd how to¢ use the documentation disks he¢ submitted to the library. After some¢ research, HAROLD PEGLER revealed that¢ several of the articles in Alan's¢ submissions are already in our¢ library.¢¢ DOOR PRIZES:¢ AL SHARKIS won 1st prize¢ MEL LEVINE won 2nd prize¢ RON FETZER won 3rd prize¢ JACK GELADIUS won 4th prize¢ AL ATKINS won 5th prize¢¢ Next meeting in March 21, 1998 in the¢ library as usual.¢¢ o=o=o=o=o=¢¢¢
