First, Let me wish you a¢belated HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON, which¢will probably be over by the time you¢read this.¢¢¢ *****¢ Secondly, thanks to all our¢members who renewed or/will renew¢their membership dues. By your¢response you show that you want the¢OL' HACKERS to continue. You, the¢present members are, for the most¢part, diehard 8 BITTERS, and from you¢I hear remarks like I like the 8 BIT¢and its capabilities too much to give¢it up for any upgrade, just for the¢sake of keeping up with the JONES's.¢¢¢ *****¢ Thirdly, the rumors of the death¢of the 8 BIT are most premature, and¢AU CONTRARE, it is vibrant and alive,¢witness the resurgence of EXCELLENT¢programs being written by individuals,¢like our own KRIS HOLTEGAARD. He has¢written programs such as WQNRDOS,¢DATAGRAF, and a bunch of utilities¢that can be incorporated into these¢programs, and from our own HORST¢DEWITZ, International Correspondent¢for OL' HACKERS, LIAUG, and BIT BYTER,¢we hear that a new source of 8 BIT¢programs are in the works through the¢mix of WEST GERMANY's BIT BYTER Club,¢and a new AMERICAN distributor,¢'K-SOFT', and of course all the new¢SHAREWARE programs coming through,¢such as the 5.0 TEXTPRO, among others.¢So keep the faith 8 BITTERS we are far¢from dead in spite of the DOOMSAYERS!¢¢¢ *****¢ Fourthly, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY OL'¢HACKERS. As we go into our 7th year,¢lets continue to make our club the #1¢8 BIT CLUB, that it presently is! Keep¢active, volunteer your services, run¢for office, but keep getting involved.¢I can assure you, it's more fun than¢just staying on the sidelines, just¢ask JOE LEBER, ALLEN ATKINS, CARLOS¢HURTADO, KRIS HOLTEGAARD, HORST¢DEWITZ, ALAN SHARKIS, HARRY TUTHILL,¢STAN SCHENFELD, etc. etc. I might just¢as well name the whole club rooster,¢because the whole club is involved to¢some degree or other!¢¢¢ *****¢ Finally, I planned on running for¢President again, and if elected by the¢time you read this, (probably because¢no one else will be rushing to take on¢the task of PRESIDENT, and if so, I¢will be unanimously elected, after a¢most strenous campaign against all¢odds) I will try to continue to keep¢in contact with the many friends I¢have made in clubs from all over. It¢is through the publishing of our Disk¢Newsletter and my correspondence with¢these new friends that keeps the club¢in touch with all kinds of nice¢things.
