¢ תΦβ⌠≤áר≡í¢ By¢ Kris Holtegaard¢ ---------------¢¢ I know that I've only been to one¢OL' HACKER's club meeting this year,¢as a matter of fact I really haven't¢been around since July of 1989. But¢that doesn't mean that I have dropped¢out of the club or have given up on¢computing. Since July of '89, I've¢been doing other things, like running¢the BBS until November of the same¢year. Well anyway, since the BBS went¢down at that time, I dove right into¢programming. While running a BBS for¢the past three years I haven't been¢able to learn that much about¢programming with most of my time taken¢up by running the BBS and other¢personal problems that occured from¢the months of November 1989 to April¢of 1990. In that time I have written¢and completed developing programs and¢disks for the Atari 8-bit, which some¢of you have by now.¢¢ One thing you all should know,¢and that is, I haven't lost touch with¢the Atari 8-bit world. I've so been¢busy with new idea's and putting them¢to good use for the Atari 8-bit that I¢myself really didn't know until the¢release of WQNRDos how many programs I¢have written. I took a look and found¢that I have over five different¢Sub-Directories on my hard drive that¢are full with original programs. Some¢of which have already been released¢and donated to our club, THE OL'¢HACKERS!¢¢ If this all sounds like I'm¢troting my own horn or that I'm on an¢EGO trip mabye your right, but I don't¢think so. I'm trying, like some other¢programmers out there to keep the¢Atari 8-bit ALIVE! Why? The answer is¢simple. Its one of the most flexible¢and powerfull 8-Bit computer that I've¢ever come across, and I do have the¢right to say that because I have owned¢a TI and some other off the wall¢computers that I wouldn't even care to¢mention (like COLECO, what a¢joke...).¢¢ A most prized project was¢WQNRDos. Which most of you know is a¢great basic program that is very¢powerful and give's you options that¢never before came in a BASIC Dos type¢program. I would like to publicly¢extend my thanks to ALAN SHARKIS, (who¢has also been raving about it), for¢being one of the main BETA testers for¢WQNRDos and I know that he really¢enjoyed that and enjoys the program.¢Also my thanks to ALEX PIGNATO for¢much of his help and added idea's¢while in the final stages of the¢program. WQNRDos alone took over NINE¢months to put together and turn out¢(to version 3.0) which became a TWO¢sided disk that is over 150k¢alone-(WOW a lot of typing!), and¢that's just one disk of many that I¢have done.¢¢ Like I said I may not have¢been at many meetings but I always¢show my support for the OL' HACKER's¢in many other ways. I would like to¢hear your opinions. This may sound¢like an editorial but you know it¢isn't. We all get involved in one way¢or another. As far as the BBS, I will¢have it back up On-Line as soon as its¢possibile.¢¢ Thank You All for your FRIENDSHIP!¢¢ ¢
