  17. About ClipShop
  18.  
  19. Overview
  20. ClipShop is a "Legacy Graphics"
  21. utility program which allows you to
  22. view, edit, save & print Old PrintShop,
  23. PrintMaster, and PrintPartner ClipArt.
  24.  
  25. ClipShop also supports viewing,
  26. editing, saving & printing of other
  27. older graphics & text file formats
  28. including BSaved, PCPaint Pictor PIC,
  29. PCX & BSV.

  31. Apple II HIRES Images & many C 64 Image
  32. Formats are supported as well.

  34. The currently displayed ClipArt or
  35. graphic can also be copied to the
  36. Windows Clipboard to be used in other
  37. programs, to compose a new screen
  38. image, or converted to other formats
  39. like Windows BMP, Pictor PIC, PCX, or
  40. BSaved.

  42. You can choose a copy command from a
  43. variety of 3 clipboard copy commands.
  44. Each of these 3 commands are used to
  45. get different proportions for the
  46. appearance of the ClipArt or graphic.
  47. Saving to BMP or other formats also
  48. supports this feature.

  50. ClipShop supports both page size and
  51. "screen-scale" printing and Clipart
  52. catalog printing and saving to BMP is
  53. also provided.

  55. Online Help
  56. ClipShop's help file is extensive, and
  57. you will have no trouble finding the
  58. help you need to change colors in a
  59. graphic, or to use the many other
  60. graphics editing options that ClipShop
  61. supports. The online help should
  62. provide more than enough information
  63. to get you started.

  65. Extras
  66. ClipShop comes with a large collection
  67. of old ClipArt & many sample graphics.

  69. ClipShop is distributed with authorized
  70. versions of PCPaint, the very first
  71. Paintbrush program for the PC (by John
  72. Bridges), which can be optionally
  73. installed to run under Windows XP, and
  74. many other extras.

  76. The installation of Legacy
  77. Applications (PCPaint, etc) is
  78. optional. During testing of ClipShop,
  79. I have found that some hardware
  80. platforms are unable to run CGA Mode
  81. DOS Legacy Applications without using
  82. DosBox.

  84. History and Development
  85. ClipShop was originally written by me
  86. (Bill Buckels) in 1999, and was
  87. reworked as a Win32 application with
  88. support for long filenames in 2006
  89. followed with significant functional
  90. and content additions & improvements.

  92. When ClipShop was first released, its
  93. use was limited to supporting Legacy
  94. ClipArt in Windows. ClipShop was
  95. expanded a great deal for the 2007
  96. Windows XP rewrite (ClipShop Deluxe),
  97. including support for other Legacy
  98. Graphics formats.

  100. ClipShop now supports the features
  101. that we have come to expect in a
  102. Windows XP application, including File
  103. Associations, ShortCut Menus, and
  104. integrated printing functionality.

  106. This release of ClipShop includes the

  109. (expanded) functionality of them (and

  125. ClipShop was written in C and compiled
  126. under the Visual Studio 2005 command
  127. line using the Win32 SDK for Windows
  128. XP. The main application's Source Code
  129. is not bundled with the application
  130. since it is not for distribution. The
  131. source code for several of the
  132. programs that come with ClipShop is
  133. included with ClipShop.

  135. Effective July 15, 2007 ClipShop has
  136. been "Officially" released and may be
  137. publicly distributed.
