LAN Server 3.0
This document applies to the EtherExpress(tm) 16, 16TP, 16C, FLASH,
FLASH TP, FLASHC, MCA, and MCA/TP. The FlashC will work with the
flash/boot rom disabled. This document contains notes for installing
the NDIS driver and does not explain how to configure an EtherExpress
board. For instructions about configuring the board, see either the
Expert's Guide or the Complete Guide.
INTRODUCTION:
-------------
Before you begin, you will need the I/O address of the EtherExpress board.
You can get this information by running SOFTSET on the EtherExpress 16,
16TP, 16C, FLASH, FLASH TP, or FlashC card or the IBM SC program on the
Etherexpress MCA or MCA/TP card.
This installation does not use OS/2 Extended Services.
These steps apply to both the file server and the workstation. After
installing OS/2, follow the below steps prior to installing LAN Server 3.0
or the workstation requestor.
OS/2 2.1 and LAN Server 3.0:
----------------------------
1. Make sure you have the extended nif file, EXP16.NIF dated later than
6/18/90. This file is available on the Intel BBS in the archive
NDIS16.EXE.
2. Copy EXP16.OS2 and EXP16.NIF from the Intel EtherExpress(tm) LAN
Adapter Driver and Option Diskette or from the downloaded file to the
C:\IBMCOM\MACS directory.
3. Install LAN Adapter and Protocol Support (LAPS) from an OS/2 window.
4. After installing the software, select configure LAN transports. The
EtherExpress 16 will appear in the Lan Adaptors window. Select the
necessary protocols and save the configuration.
5. Exit LAPS, shutdown the system and reboot the computer. The complete
PROTOCOL.INI file will be created and put in the C:\IBMCOM directory. The
CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files will be updated.
