   Several hotels have agreed to give discounts to Travel Forum-
Compuserve members.  This list will likely change frequently, hopefully
with many additions as more hotels come to understand what
Compuserve is and how to reach our membership.  In the case of
individual hotels it can be important that you write down the name of
the contact person who made the offer to us.  In case you run into a
hotel employee who doesn't know about the discount, you should be
able to easily resolve the problem.

   While these discounts are presumably better than the regular rates
that the hotels offer, most hotels will not volunteer the information if
there is an available promotional rate lower than the discounts
mentioned here.  We recommend that after you confirm the discounted
Travel Forum rate you ask two other questions.  The first is extremely
important.  Ask if there are any lower rates.  Tell them you would like
to know the lowest rates available.  You may be surprised at a lower
quote.  That done you should ask one other question.  Ask what their
weekend rates are, as they might be still lower.  If your stay includes
both weekend  and weekday nights, ask if they can extend the weekend
rates to the other nights.  Some hotels will do this.



The following hotel chains are offering us discounts of between 10-30%
for their hotels both in North America and WORLDWIDE, on the "Choice
Business Rate" program:

   To get these 10-30% discounts you must give them the Travel Forum
"Choice Business Rates" ID number, which is #00051407.  You can make
reservations through your travel agent or by calling (800) CLUB-VIP.  In
theory this is for business travel only, but I've been assured that nobody
will be asking what the purpose of your trip is.
   No special identification is required, so there's no need for any
special membership cards.
   A benefit of this program is listed as "Room upgrades whenever
possible at no extra cost."  Be sure to ask for the upgrade if one isn't
offered.
   Complimentary "morning coffee and/or newspaper" is promised at
these discount rates.



RAMADA IN NYC

The Ramada Pennsylvania Hotel, in NYC, is giving corporate rates to
Travel Forum members.

The Travel Forum rate is $89 per night, always available.  While the
hotel often advertises an $99 rate, that one is promotional, good only
when the hotel expects not to be heavily booked.  Our rate is NOT
capacity controlled, plus they offer a complimentary continental
breakfast daily with our rates, upgrade to their newly renovated rooms
IF YOU ASK and these rooms are available.

There's also a special corporate check-in window, reservation number,
and check cashing privileges.

To get the $89 corporate rate, single or double, or if you prefer a $110
Executive Floor rate, you should call the hotel at 1-800-841-8751.  You
will be prompted by voice mail and asked for a SPEED NUMBER, a
corporate ID number.  Our Speed Number is 81347.

If there is any question about this rate, tell the reservations person that
this was approved by their Director of Sales, Sherry Landau.

The Ramada Pennsylvania is located on 32nd Street and 7th Avenue,
across from Madison Square Garden and Penn Station.  It was originally
built as the Statler Hilton (a long time ago).

We now have an offer for the Sir Francis Drake Hotel in San Francisco
for "priority availability" of their superior rooms at an attractive
rate.

Priority availability means that this is not capacity controlled. If
there is only one superior room left when a travsig member calls, the
discount is still given.

The price is $80 per night, single or double, for the superior room,
full American breakfast on weekdays, upgrade to the Tower Level if
available and complimentary hors d'oeuvres in their Starlight Roof
Lounge.

If you are interested in their most basic "economy" rooms, they are
sometimes available at an advertised rate of $65.  Just ask if these
are available.

The Sir Francis Drake Hotel is one block from Union Square, a short
walk from the financial district, and with a cable car stop right
outside. It's a full service, 417 room hotel, with the informal Crusty's
Sourdough Cafe and the Starlite Roof Lounge offering live music,
dancing and city views.

To get this special rate you must identify yourself as a member of
The Travel Forum on CompuServe when you call the hotel at (415)
392-7755 or [phone].  If there is any problem getting the
$80 single or double rate, speak with Charlotte Carlson in the Sales
Department.

Extra people are permitted at a cost of $10 additional per person per
night.



HYATT HOTEL IN ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA:

I recently aquired a Hyatt Hotel in Arlington Virginia. The hotel's
regular corporate rate is $145 a night (That's already a discounted
rate). After discussing it with the staff, I would like to make it
available
to fellow Compuserve users at a significat discount.  Weekdays for $130
and Friday and Saturday nights for $65.00 a night.

Some restrictions on the reservations would have to apply:
1. Members would have to make the resrvations directly with the hotel
at [phone] and mention Compuserve or me when they make the
resrvations.
2. There are some blackout periods.
3. Rates do not apply to group and cannot be combined with other
special promotions.
4. Rate does not include meals, taxes or other room charges.
5. Rates are subject to change.

   The New York Novotel, an upscale business hotel just north of Times
Square (Broadway and 52nd Street) has renewed the special rate that
they have been offering to members of The Travel Forum.  Rates are
$139 nightly, and there are often weekend special rates that range from
$99-$119, space available.  The hotel requests that you use their special
Executive Club telephone number, [phone], as club/Travel
Forum members are given preference in times of high demand.
   You should identify yourself as a member of "The Travel Forum on
CompuServe" when making reservations.
   The Novotel has just completed a remodeling, and they tell me that all
of their rooms, larger than average, now have minibars and safes in
each room, as well as hairdryers, cable TV and two phones in each
room.  They've also added a business center and exercise room.
   If you have any trouble getting the special rate, tell them the rate was
given by Rosemary Kelly, who is reachable in the sales office if you have

LONDON B&B...WITH COMPUSERVE HOOKUP!

   Okay, basic details: We rent no more than three rooms (one double
suite and two singles) in our family home, just on the fringe of London.
Tricia is a professional caterer and does all the work really!

   What we try to do is offer reasonably-priced accommodation with a
London family - so you're not staying in some impersonal hotel. We've got
CIM runing on a Mac and a PC and guests are welcome to use it along with
fax and stuff.  It was Tricia's idea to put the advt on CIS and we've been
astonished by the response.

   Basic rates to CompuServe members are:
Single room - 22 pounds per night, with 5 pounds off for fourth and
              subsequent nights.
Double room - with en-suite bathroom (corner bath etc) - 36 pounds per
              night (again with the 5 pounds per night reduction for
              fourth night etc).

   Rates are inclusive of full breakfast and all taxes. Typical breakfast
menu reads:  Cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit, juices, coffe/tea; Breads,
rolls etc; sausages, bacon, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes and specialities if
you prefer like Black Pudding (bit rich for me to be honest), Scotch
Kippers etc. Let us know any preferences and we'll organise.

   All rooms have colour tvs and we also have a guests lounge. We have
guests from all over Europe - I'm a comms journalist and have met lots of
people on my travels and quite a few come here and I stay with them
sometimes - it can be a bit like a League of Nations here sometimes at
breakfast when you hear London Cockney mixing with Finnish, Danish and
Belgian.

   Position: We're on the east side of London, Gants Hill station on the
Underground system (Central line). Takes 20 minutes out of rush hours from,
say, Oxford Circus/Tottenham Court Road.

   We run a pick up option from any of the London airports (though we do
charge extra for this).

OREGON COAST B&B ...
CompuServe with an Ocean View!!

We are in Port Orford Oregon, about an hour north of the California
border.  I work as a carpenter & Brenda teaches. Our B&B is a
contemporary 2 story home we designed ourselves and have been
working on for decades. Our location is on a bit of a peninsula looking
southeasterly over miles of public beach. There is a small cove below
and Humbug Mountain is off in the distance. Restaurants, the beach,
and the town's harbor are only a 2 block walk away . Port Orford's
harbor is where fishermen use a huge crane to launch their boats
into the ocean.  And Port Orford itself is basically a small village (pop
1000+) where people come to retire, enjoy a mild climate and be as
far away as posssible from noise, air pollution, crime, traffic &
crowds.

We offer only two rooms and both are on the second floor. The rate
for the Blue Suite is $75*. It has a rollaway bed available for an
additional $10*. The rate for the Coral Room is $65 * and its private
bath is located across a short hallway.  (*Tax Additional)

Each has its own private bath with a shower, and a queen sized Sealy
Posturepedic~ bed. Other amenities include: ocean view; direct beach
access; smoke free home; full breakfast; laundry privileges; and cable
