  3. ****NOTE******
  4. This version of ArcImage was prepared for BBS distribution. Unfortunately,
  5. to make the size of the ZIP archive manageable, we could not include all
  6. of the DLLs (libraries) required for most of the vector-based graphics
  7. (i.e. WPG, DRW, etc) supported by ArcImage. If you receive a message
  8. reporting that a DLL is missing, it is probably one that was omitted.
  9. IN NO WAY WAS THIS PROGRAM MEANT TO BE "CRIPPLED" IN ORDER TO TAUNT YOU
  10. INTO REGISTERING. However, the only way to distribute the program with its
  11. full complement of libraries efficiently is on 2 High density diskettes
  12. which you get with the registered version.

  15. This file contains a brief summary of the what is contained in this
  16. release along with information to help you get started.

  18. ArcImage is an "image"-based database that allows you to easily 
  19. collect and organize image data from various sources and in serveral 
  20. different formats. 
  21.  
  22. Highlights of ArcImage v1.0 include:
  23. - Background image compression
  24. - Support for PCX, BMP, GIF, TIF, Targa, DCX, WPG, EPS,... 
  25. - Batch Importing
  26. - Drag-n-Drop support
  27. - Import "preview"
  28. - Thumbnail catalog printing
  29. - Support for vector graphics
  30. - Enhanced JPEG support (8 and 24-bit color)
  31. - Support for Microsoft Video for Windows (.AVI) files
  32. - Allows sound (.WAV) files to be attached to each image
  33. - Support for OLE (as a client)
  34. - Improved print functions

  36. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  37. Windows 3.1, 386+ computer, 4mb+ RAM, Hard Hisk
  38. Microsoft MCI Video driver (optional)
  39. Microsoft MCI Audio driver (optional)
  40. SVGA video card (recommeded)

  42. INSTALLATION
  43. If you haven't already run the installation program, you can do so 
  44. by selecting RUN from the "Files" pulldown menu in the Program 
  45. Manager and entering A:\INSTALL.
  46.  
  47. During installation setup, ArcImage checks to see if you have the 
  48. Microsoft Video for Windows (MVW) drivers installed. If not, you 
  49. are given the option to install the runtime version of MVW. 
  50. After the MVW setup is complete, you will be given the opportunity 
  51. to restart Windows. Doing so is not absolutely necessary but highly 
  52. recommended. If you do restart Windows you will need to run the 
  53. install program again.

  55. RUNNING
  56. Once installation is complete, you are ready to run ArcImage. The main
  57. window consists of little more than a pulldown menu. Select the Files/Open
  58. menu item and open up the SAMPLE.BIF file to see an example of the type 
  59. of data ArcImage is capable of managing.

  62. The documention for ArcImage consists of the Help File. Press F1 at any time
  63. during the execution of the program to get context-sensitive information.
