  3. Thank you for purchasing dBMAN.  We sincerely hope you will  find 
  4. this product helpful in solving your data base needs.

  6. The  information that follows will help you to start using  dBMAN 
  7. and the sample programs.  If you need further assistance,  please 
  8. call your dealer.
  9.  
  10. FIRST THINGS FIRST!! MAKE A BACKUP COPY OF YOUR ORIGINAL DISKS!!
  11.  
  12.      The  first  thing you want to do is make a  backup  of  your 
  13.      original  disks.  While on the desktop, format a blank  disk 
  14.      and  copy all the files from the dBMAN Program Disk  to  the 
  15.      new  disk.  Do the same again for the Sample  Program  Disk.  
  16.      Place the originals in a safe place for use at a later time.

  18. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
  19.  
  20.      Once you have the backup disk ready, you are ready to  start 
  21.      dBMAN.   dBMAN needs to have TOS in ROM, or have at least  a 
  22.      megabyte of RAM. (The equivalent of a 1040st.)  If you don't 
  23.      have either of these, please see your dealer for an upgrade.

  25.      NOTE:  If you have a color monitor, make sure you are in  80 
  26.      column  mode (Medium Resolution) before you start.   If  you 
  27.      don't  know  how to choose your resolution,  please  consult 
  28.      your Atari manuals or call your dealer.

  30. CREATING A DATA DISKETTE:
  31.  
  32.      From  the  desktop, format a blank disk and copy  the  files 
  33.      ERR.DAT,  ERRHELP.DAT, and HELP.DAT from the  dBMAN  Program 
  34.      Disk to the new disk.  
  35.  
  36. STARTING dBMAN:
  37.  
  38.      You  will  need to start TOS first. 
  39.  
  40.      Floppy Disk Systems:
  41.  
  42.           Remove  the TOS disk, put in the dBMAN disk and  double 
  43.           click  on DBMAN.TTP.  Press return when it prompts  for 
  44.           parameters.
  45.  
  46.           Now  when the dBMAN screen comes up, you are all set to 
  47.           begin.   At  this point, if you want to save  your  own 
  48.           data, you can remove the dBMAN Program Disk and  insert 
  49.           your data disk.

  51.      Hard Disk Systems:
  52.  
  53.           If you want to run dBMAN from a Folder (Sub-directory),  
  54.           using  the  desktop, create a folder and copy  all  the 
  55.           files  from  the dBMAN Program Disk (and  the  Tutorial 
  56.           Disk, if you want) to that folder.

  58.           You  may now double click on DBMAN.TTP.   Press  return 
  59.           when it prompts for parameters.

  61. RUNNING THE TUTORIAL:

  63.      Floppy Systems:
  64.  
  65.           Start  dBMAN.  When the dBMAN screen comes  up,  remove 
  66.           the  dBMAN Disk and insert the Tutorial Disk.   At  the 
  67.           CMD: prompt, type DO TUTOR <RETURN>.

  69.     Hard Disk Systems:
  70.  
  71.           Start dBMAN.  Place the Sample Disk in drive A: and  at 
  72.           the CMD: prompt type: SET DEFAULT TO A: <RETURN>.  Then 
  73.           at the CMD: prompt, type DO TUTOR <RETURN>.

  75. RUNNING THE MAILING LIST:

  77.      Running the mailing list is similar to running the Tutorial.  
  78.      But at the CMD: prompt, type DO MAIL <RETURN>.
