9AEasyMbm is the fastest and easiest way to view or create Multi Bitmap Files without having to use PC based command line tools like Bmconv.exe. EasyMbm has been designed to provide programmers, and other users, with a tool that will minimise the time and effort needed to build Mbm files for their Applications.
AEasyMbm has its own clipboard. This is not the same as the system clipboard but simply a temporary Mbm file. When you use the Cut or Copy commands (menu or toolbar) the current bitmap in the foreground window is copied to this file. This bitmap can then be pasted to another file or to the same file at a different position. The clipboard can be viewed at any time by choosing Clipboard from the View menu.

aCUp to four Mbm files can be open at once. Each file has it's own window. Each window has a toolbar. Experiment with the toolbar to see what each button does. Windows can be moved around the screen by dragging the shaded part of the toolbar with the pen. Windows can be resized by dragging the right, bottom and bottom right border areas or by pressing the maximise button on the toolbar. Windows cannot be moved by dragging while a window is maximised.
Windows can be cascaded and tiled by pressing the cascade and tile buttons on the toolbar. The left and right cursor keys can be used to change which bitmap is displayed in the active window and pressing the tab key will switch between open windows. A bitmap can be moved around in a window by dragging with the pen. See the Dragging and dropping topic for details of how to drag and drop bitmaps between files.
ATo remove a bitmap from a file press the delete button or choose Delete from the Edit menu. If you delete a bitmap by mistake, press the undo button. This will restore the last deleted bitmap. WARNING the undo button has only one level and only restores the last deleted bitmap.

BThe fastest way to copy a bitmap from one file to another is to drag and drop between windows using the pen. Normal dragging with the pen will move a bitmap around in a window. To drag and drop between windows you need to hold down the the Ctrl or Fn keys while dragging the pen. If you hold down the Ctrl key while dragging between windows the bitmap in the source file will be added to the end of the destination file. If you hold down the Fn key while dragging between windows the bitmap in the source file will be inserted in the destination file at the current position. The bitmap in the source file is not moved or deleted by these operations.
BEasyMbm allows a user to copy variable sized rectangular areas from bitmaps. This can be handy for creating icons or splash screens. Tap a window to bring it to the foreground and choose Select area from the Edit menu or press Shift+Ctrl+C to turn selection mode on. Drag the pen in the foreground window in a right and down direction to select an area. Tap the Copy button to copy the selected area to the clipboard. This selection can then be pasted into another file as a new bitmap. Selection mode is turned off when ever another window is brought to the foreground or a window is closed. Press Shift+Ctrl+C to turn selection mode on again after swapping windows.

This freeware program allows Sibo pic and Epoc mbm files to be viewed on your PC and allows conversion between a number of PC and Psion formats including .ico to mbm. Also of interest to users of this program will be 5Pic. This freeware program allows Series 3x pic files to be viewed on an Epoc32 machine and be saved to mbm format. Hundreds of Series3x icons can be found on the web and 5Pic will convert these to Series5 format. There are also programs for the PC, Series3x and Siena range of machines.

@BEasyMbm works with Rom based and Ram based Mbm files. To open a file tap the Open file button. This will display a dialog box that will allow the user to browse any folder on any disk including Rom. The File menu also contains an Open item. Select Open (or Ctrl+O) to present a more user friendly dialog box with a browse button. This dialog cannot open the system folder.
Another time saving device is the History menu. This holds a list of the most recently opened folders. Selecting an item from this list will display a dialog box showing all the files in that directory.
BWhen you wish to remove a bitmap from a file but do not wish to permanently delete it, click the Recycle button. This will remove the bitmap from the file and add it to a file called 'recycled.mbm' which is kept in the EasyMbm application folder. This file can be opened by choosing Recycle bin from the View menu. Bitmaps can then be copied back from this file in the usual way. WARNING casual use of the recycle button will cause the recycle bin to grow in size and waste valuable disk space. The recycle bin should occasionally be pruned of unwanted bitmaps or emptied by choosing Empty recycle bin from the Edit menu. This will delete recycled.mbm but it will be recreated next time the Recycle button is used.
ABitmaps can be zoomed up to ten times their original size. This can take just a few seconds for a small bitmap to several minutes for a full screen size bitmap. Tap the zoom icons to the left of the screen to display a resize bitmap dialog. Zooming can be halted at any time by pressing the Esc key. When closing a file or moving to another bitmap you will be asked if you want to save any changes you have made. NOTE Changes cannot be saved to Rom files so no option will be given for doing so.
ABitmaps can be flipped horizontally and vertically or rotated. This can take juat a few seconds for a small bitmap to several minutes for a full screen size bitmap. Tap the flip and rotate buttons at the top of the screen or use the menu commands. When closing a file or moving to another bitmap you will be asked if you want to save any changes you have made. NOTE Changes cannot be saved to Rom files so no option will be given for doing so.
