If FlixMix doesn't run when you start it from Windows, you probably don't have enough free memory available. FlixMix runs in DOS mode and requires at least 490,000 bytes free. Processes like TSR's and device drivers that are started from your config.sys and/or autoexec.bat can take up memory that FlixMix requires.
The easiest way to make FlixMix work is to temporarily remove device drivers and TSR's you don't need. The only device driver which FlixMix requires is the mouse driver (or TSR).
To remove device drivers, you need to edit your config.sys file and place a "REM" and a space at the beginning of the lines that begin with 'DEVICE=" (except for the ones for the mouse if you want to use the mouse to control the game).
To remove TSR's, place a "REM" and a space at the start of all autoexec.bat lines except for mouse-related lines. Make sure that you make a backup copy of these files before you edit them. After you have edited these files you will need to reboot your system for the changes to take effect.
