  46. Problem(s) this Update Resolves:
  47. ================================
  48. When you are starting Windows 95 OSR2, OSR2.1, or OSR2.5 on a computer with an
  49. AMD-K6-2 processor running at speeds of 350 MHz and above, you may receive one
  50. of the following error messages:
  51.  
  52.    Device IOS failed to initialize. Windows Protection Error.
  53.    You must reboot your computer.
  54.  
  55.    Windows Protection Error. You must reboot your computer.
  56.  
  57. The first error is a result of a divide exception in IOS.VXD, the second is due
  58. to a similar error within ESDI_506.PDR or SCSIPORT.PDR.
  59.  
  60. This problem is very intermittent at 350MHz, but occurs more often at higher
  61. speeds. Note that it is necessary to reboot the computer after the error occurs.
  62. If the error does not occur, the system will run normally.

  67. How to Install:
  68. ===============
  69. 1. Copy the file AMDK6UPD.EXE into an empty folder, and run AMDK6UPD.EXE 
  70.    to install the update.
  71.  
  72. 2. You may be warned that you are about to replace a newer file with an
  73.    older version of the file.  Generally, you should the keep the newer
  74.    file, and choose not to replace it with an older file.
  75.  
  76. 3. Restart the computer for the changes to take effect.

  78. How to Uninstall:
  79. =================
  80. 1. Using Windows Explorer, locate the file AMDK6_UN.INF in the Windows\INF\QFE
  81.    folder, right-click on the file AMDK6_UN.INF, and choose Install.
  82.  
  83. 2. You will be prompted for the Windows 95 installation CD or diskettes.
  84.    Choose the appropriate path.
  85.  
  86. 3. You may be prompted to replace the newer file with an older version of
  87.    the file.  To uninstall this update, choose to Replace the newer file.
  88.  
  89. 4. Restart the computer for the changes to take effect.
