  2.                     Sacrifice of Praise
  3.  
  4. There is a difference between Praise and the Sacrifice of Praise.
  5.  
  6. PRAISE is something that comes easily and spontaneously, when God
  7. has answered a prayer or blessed us.  When we have positive
  8. feelings and can sense His presence - then praise comes easily.
  9.  
  10. THE SACRIFICE OF PRAISE is when we don't feel like praising the
  11. Lord.  There are no answers to prayer, no positive feelings,
  12. everything seems to be going wrong, yet we offer the sacrifice of
  13. praise.  Praise becomes a sacrifice, acceptable unto God.

  15. ROYAL PRIESTHOOD TO OFFER SPIRITUAL SACRIFICES.
  16.  
  17. Ye are .... an Holy Priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices
  18. acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. 1 Pet. 2:5.
  19. As a royal Priesthood we become our own priests and offer our own
  20. sacrifices, Jesus followed this pattern.  He was the High Priest,
  21. as well as the lamb of God, sacrificed on the altar.

  23. A.   THE SACRIFICE OF PRAISE.

  25.      By Him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of Praise to God
  26.      continually, that is,  the  fruit of our  lips giving thanks
  27.      unto His Name.  Heb. 13:15.
  28.      A blessing is something which you receive when you come into
  29.      the House of God, but the "sacrifice" of Praise is something
  30.      you bring with you, which you offer to God, not on the basis
  31.      of your feelings, or  circumstances, but on the basis of our
  32.      revelation of God, His greatness and our  desire  to  please 
  33.      and obey Him.

  35.      1.   ORDER YOURSELF TO PRAISE AND PREPARE A WAY FOR GOD.
  36.           Whoso offereth (sacrifices) praise ... and to him that
  37.           ordereth his conversation aright (orders himself to
  38.           praise the Lord) will I show the salvation of God
  39.           (prepareth a way whereby I may show forth My victory). 
  40.           Psa. 50:23.
  41.           If we want victory in adverse circumstances, make a way
  42.           for God to bring it by offering the sacrifice of praise.

  44.      2.   GATES OF PRAISE ALWAYS OPEN.
  45.           To be opened continually, never to be shut day or night. 
  46.           Isa. 60:11.  Thou shalt call thy gates PRAISE.  Isa. 
  47.           60:18.  When we are experiencing night (spiritual 
  48.           darkness), keep the gates of praise open that a way may 
  49.           be prepared for God to show forth His victory.
  50.  
  51.      3.   TO BE OFFERED IN CHURCH.
  52.           Bring the sacrifice of praise into the House of the
  53.           Lord.  Jer. 17:27; 33:11.
  54.           Determine before you attend the service that you will
  55.           bring an offering of Praise even though you have no
  56.           feelings and everything is going wrong.

  58.      4.    FREELY OFFERED,
  59.           I will freely sacrifice unto thee, I will praise thy
  60.           name.  Psa. 54:6
  61.  
  62.           The more abundantly and freely we sacrifice praise, the
  63.           more abundant will His touch be upon our lives.  God
  64.           loves a cheerful giver.
  65.  
  66.      5.   PAUL AND SILAS SACRIFICED PRAISE in prison - hands and
  67.           feet bound.  They had nothing to praise God for.  They
  68.           suffered unto bonds, yet the Word was not bound. 
  69.           2 Tim.2:9.
  70.           The message of the sacrifice of praise in their heart
  71.           was NOT BOUND.  As they put it into operation praise
  72.           created an atmosphere for God to come down and deliver.

  74. B.   THE  SACRIFICE OF THANKSGIVING.
  75.  
  76.      1.   Let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving. 
  77.           Psa. 107:22. It's easy to be thankful for the good 
  78.           things and God's blessings, but to give God the 
  79.           sacrifice of thanksgiving is to give thanks for 
  80.           everything, Eph. 5:20, even in adverse circumstances.  
  81.           Realizing that all things work together for good.  All 
  82.           things are of God.  Give thanks in all things.
  83.  
  84.      2.   Thanksgiving with leaven.....leavened bread with the
  85.           sacrifice of thanksgiving.  Lev. 7:13. Leaven speaks of
  86.           sin, shortcomings, imperfections.
  87.  
  88.           Though we recognise our shortcomings and imperfections,
  89.           we are nevertheless, to offer the sacrifice of
  90.           thanksgiving believing that Praise is a refiner and
  91.           purifier.  Proverbs 27:21.
  92.  
  93.      1.   Thanksgiving before the answer comes - I will offer to
  94.           Him the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and call upon the
  95.           name of the Lord.  Psa. 116:17. Many are discouraged and
  96.           robbed of faith because they haven't learnt to offer
  97.           praise before seeing results.
  98.  
  99.      4.   Jonah sacrifices thanksgiving.  Jonah had no reason to
  100.           be thankful. Look at his circumstances.
  101.           Weeds wrapped around his head, darkness, wet, smelly,
  102.           hot, belly of hell.  Waters covered him even to his soul
  103.           (emotions, feelings).  He tried everything to get out,
  104.           repented, cried to God, but when he offered sacrifices
  105.           of thanksgiving IMMEDIATELY, the fish becomes ill.  A
  106.           thankful prophet became too much for the fish.  He was
  107.           delivered.

  109. C.   THE SACRIFICE OF JOY.
  110.  
  111.      1.   Therefore will I offer in His tabernacle (of David),
  112.           sacrifices of joy.  Psa. 27:6.
  113.           There is a difference between the joy of the Lord and a
  114.           joyful exuberance in the natural.  Some people are
  115.           naturally happy and outgoing in nature, and there is no
  116.           sacrifice involved in this.  Most however, are not of
  117.           this disposition, and it is difficult to enter into the
  118.           aspect of praise which involves the expression of joy. 
  119.           This becomes a sacrifice, and as a priesthood we must
  120.           offer God this expression also.
  121.  
  122.           We must learn to rejoice in God and find Him to be our
  123.           joy even when circumstances are at their worst and when
  124.           we would never in the natural, find anything in which to
  125.           rejoice.  The reward of the faithful steward is "the joy
  126.           of the Lord".

  128.      2.   Example.  Although the fig tree shall not blossom, no
  129.           fruit in the vines, the olive shall fail, flocks cut
  130.           off, no herd in the stable, YET I WILL REJOICE IN THE
  131.           LORD ... Hab. 3:17-18.
  132.           In spite of unfruitfulness, drought conditions etc., we
  133.           can still JOY IN HIM.
