Warning: Do not unzip these files into your \HDM directory (or what
ever directory you placed HDM IV in). This can/will over write your
menus with the same name. That is NOT what you want to do.
HDM IV 4.61 (Downloaded from Apogee BBS 9/15/93)
HDM IV 4.60 (Downloaded from Comstar BBS 8/17/93)
HDM IV 4.55 (Official release received 5/7/93)
HDM IV 4.55 (Beta release received 3/29/93)
HDM IV 4.54 (Official Update to 4.50 arrived 2/8/93)
HDM IV 4.54 (Received 11/28/92 from Jim Hass.)
This file contains several menus that were designed for HDM IV 4.6x (or
above) menu system. Hard Disk Menu IV is written by Jim Hass. It is a
top notch menu system that is WELL SUPPORTED by the author. I have
worked with Jim closely since registering HDM IV in Dec., 1990. He has
not only responded to simple questions, teaching me how to use the
program more effectively but he has made major efforts to incorperate
suggestions and enhancements into the program. Put simply, he listens!
Inside this ZIP file you will find many menus for use with the Hard Disk
Menu IV system. One quick word of caution: I have used these menus for
a long time but on occassion I still find a problem where I either made a
type-O or simply made a stupid mistake. If you find one of these
problems please feel free to leave me (Darrell Bivens) a message on the
Silver Bullet BBS in Sweetwater, TN (615) 337-9683 but other than that...
USE THESE MENU MODULES AT YOUR OWN RISK! The reason I say that is quite
simple. ANYONE could alter any of the menu actions inside this ZIP and
have it do anything they want to. For this reason, it would be best to
download this file directly from the Silver Bullet BBS. Another
advantage to this is the fact that I will keep current releases with any
changes or new menus on this board. Any other BBS which shows my name as
the uploader should be OK but still use the "Show Action" - Menu function
in HDM and look at the ACTION string at least once BEFORE you run it. You
can also use the {STEP} function as the first entry in the action (and
after any ||) to see exactly what is being done BEFORE it is done.
Menu # Description
000 Main Menu (Calls most commonly used routines/menus)
010 Custom Startup (Used as first menu of the day to load TSRs)
020 Custom Menu 2 (Has some items for quick personal access)
030 Smartware 3.1 (An intergrated software package)
031 Graphics (Access to most major graphics based programs)
032 Genealogy (Some genealogy programs - Brothers Keeper=Best)
033 Security (Virus/System security utilities)
034 File Compress (File / Archive compressors to reduce storage)
035 Communications (For working with files after hanging up)
036 File Utils (Working with disks on a file level / basis)
037 Disk Utils (Working with disks on a disk level / basis)
038 CPU Utilities (A few things to help make computer use easier)
039 PCTools 6.0 (A comprehensive PCTools 6.0 / CPBACKUP 6.0 menu)
040 DOS Default (DOS menu, comes from HDM.051,052)
041 PCTools Default (PCTools menu, comes from HDM.039,045,046)
042 PCKwik (Cache/Spooler/Keyboard/Screen utility package)
043 Printer (Various printer control programs)
044 Memory Resident (Control memory usage/reporting/TSR loading)
045 PCTools 7.1 (A comprehensive PCTools 7.1 / CPBACKUP 7.1 menu)
046 PCTools 8.0 (A comprehensive PCTools 8.0 Package menu)
049 Disk Compress (Disk Compression/Stacker2.0-3.0x)
050 Routing Menu (Goto routines to access all these menus)
051 DOS 3.3 (A fairly complete DOS 3.3 Menu)
052 DOS 5.0 (DOS 5.0 Menu with many of its new tools)
069 Import/Export (Routine to update menu to / from the Hard Drive)
Since every menu has calls to other menus in this package it is best if
you can keep the same file name as is already set up. Page M and N on
each menu have the same calls to several of the major menus that I call
often. If you must change the name of a HDM.??? file then make a record
and as you run into any menu that calls the renamed file, you can find
the old/new name easily.
HDMM46?.ZIP History
* As always, these menus are under change and refinement. *
102793 Not many additions to the menu lately. Most changes are around
the virus scanning/detection menus and remote cable control menus. The
most recent/powerful virus detection versions: McAfee Assts 108, Thunder
BYTE 6.08, and F-Prot 2.09f are all fully supported. Also, the best
archive managers that use these scanners are TranScan 4.11, Shez 9.4,
ZZap 6.4 and Checkout 2.0.
092293 Moved HDM.000 Page T (Text View/Edit) menu to the File Utilities
Menu Page T. These programs are specifically for working with files either
editing or viewing. Rewrote HDM.000 Page T to provide quick access to the
most used Text Utilities. Removed X 3.0 Page from File Compression Menu.
The program is too old and is no longer viable with ZIPR and ZIPRLite.
091593 Downloaded HDM IV 4.61 from Apogee BBS today. The one apparent
change is the last suggestion I put in concerning HDM's use of the built
in file lister to allow help screens to be more than one screen long. Now
press F4 while viewing a custom help screen [F1] and HDM will call its
internal file viewer/printer to view ALL the file.
082393 Began to build a ZZap Page in the Communications Menu. This will
allow using ZZaps ability to process multi-level archives to test for
virus infections. I already have menu entries in the Compression Menu
devoted to ZZap as it is an excellent program for converting archive
files from one archive program/format to another.
081793 Downloaded HDM IV 4.60 from Comstar BBS today. I have not been
giving Jim a lot of feedback so I must have missed a beta test or two. I
did offer some suggestions for HDM so hopefully I will get back into the
testing of pre-releases of HDM IV.
080993 Added Pages F & G on Security Menu supporting F-Prot Anti-Virus
Software Package. The latest version of VSumx reports F-Prot 2.09 as
having the HIGHEST detection rate of ANY Package (including McAfee Assts
VIRUSCAN (SCAN) Program). It will be supported by this menu system in
the future. Changes in other menu areas will be expanded to support
SCAN, TBSCAN, and now F-Prot as scanner options.
080493 Not a lot of additions. I did remove all menu options for Neodisk
(Real time disk compression like Stacker) due to the author abandoning the
program after DOS 6.0 came out with its own disk compression. Most changes
were for cleanup, corrections and minor improvements. Nothing exciting.
050793 Received the official HDM IV 4.55 release today. Everything is
working fine. I will begin to incorperate the newly changed features of
the {CONFIRM~title~delay~default Y/N} function. The changes with the
{FILE} and {DIR} functions caused a need for some changes in some menus
by the old vs new way these commands work. *later* All menus have been
checked for compliance with the way {FILE} and {DIR} functions work. I
also changed the macro call for choosing the disk drive to include the ":"
following the macro. This allowed me to remove the ":" in all other
areas and standardize the way the drive selection was made.
041493 Modified FORMAT.BAT to reverse the effects of PCTools install
routine that renames FORMAT.COM to FORMAT!.COM. My FORMAT.BAT file
expects to use !FORMAT.COM when doing a DOS format command. If it finds
FORMAT!.COM in the root or DOS directory it now renames it to !FORMAT.COM.
041293 One of the new features in HDM IV 4.55 is a change to the
{CONFIRM} function to allow a timed delay and default answer...
{CONFIRM~Title~delay~Y/N} like {CONFIRM~Sure?~10~N}. This change can
effectively replace the {DELAY} function recently added plus give the
option to change the default Y answer to N if desired.
033093 I read an article that gave the indication that DOS 6.0 will drop
the ASSIGN command entirely. Thus I upgraded the DOS 5.0 menu with page
S (Subst) that does the same actions as the ASSIGN command.
032993 HDM IV 4.55 is in Beta test. I will try and not make too many
changes to these menus that require the enhancements of 4.55 until it is
actually released. I am happy to claim the fame to several of the new
enhancements being suggestions that I have put in. As I have said many
times... Jim Hass listens to the users.
031193 OOPS. On 3/4 I changed IMPORT.BAT and EXPORT.BAT so they would
not run if they were not called by the menu (checked exact contents of
%0. Unfortunately IMPORT.BAT calls itself after copying all needed files
to C: it changes to drive C: and runs IMPORT.BAT to do the UNZIPping of
files. This makes it much faster. However the way IMPORT.BAT called
itself was not the same as the menu did sooooo the UNZIPping process did
not happen. I don't know how many changes I lost but it is now fixed.
021593 Changed the Autoexec.bat and CCC.BAT scan procedures to speed up
the Tuesday and 15th scans. CCC.BAT can still do a FULL/Complete scan as
before. Removed ASK.EXE from HDMM###.ZIP file. The program that is used
by several of the batch files is GET V2.5 and is available as shareware
on most BBSs. DL TranScan 4.05. It still has some small bugs but so far
is the BEST archive converter for updating to PKZIP 2.04g (current).
PKZIP still has one bug. Using SET PKTMP=C: and the command line switch
-bC: (where C: is any hard drive). PKZIP can corrupt a zip when updating
an existing archive on a almost full floppy disk where the archive
becomes too large and the disk becomes FULL. PKZIP will exit without any
error messages or without setting errorlevel for 'Disk Full' the error.
021093 Completed modifications to CCC.BAT (Check, Clean, Compress) for
Stacker 2.0 or 3.0x support. Since Stacker changed the SCHECK.EXE
filename to CHECK.EXE the program now looks for either. This batch file
uses two ID files if you have Stacker installed on drive C:. First
create a file named STACKER.? where ? is the host drive where the hidden
STACKVOL.### file is located. Second create a file named STACKED.? where
? is the STACKED drive letter. This is after any drive letter swapping
has occured. You can create either of these files by using the ECHO
command as shown below:
ECHO Stacker Host Drive >> STACKER.C
ECHO Stacked drive is >> STACKED.D
020893 Created a new page in the Communication Menu (Page T) which gives
access to TranScan for automatically scanning various areas just as Page
S does for Shez. Modified Shez page to scan the four main areas using
either SCAN from McAfee Assts or the TBAV package. Updated the TranScan
entry in the Compression Menu (Page Y) to allow for access to multiple
configuration files.
020493 Downloaded the latest version of TranScan 4.02. This is an
archive tester, virus scanner and conversion program that works as a
stand alone program or with several BBS packages offering automatic
update of the BBS data files.
020193 Since I am not aware of any archive converter that will allow
reZIPping ALL files on a floppy (when free space won't allow it on the
floppy disk) I created a new page in Archiver Menu 34 (Page Z). The menu
options work together using PCOPY, PDEL, (SHEZ or ZZAP or TranScan),
PKZIP and PKUNZIP to copy from any drive:\dir to a temperary directory
(\TEMPZIPC), use SHEZ, ZZAP, or TranScan to ReZIP the files, use PKUNZIP
to test the ZIPs, and use PCOPY to move the files back to the drive:\dir
(PDEL is only used if readonly files are encountered). The process is
automated as much as possible.
020193 Downloaded SHEZ86.ZIP. Updated SHEZ menu for autoscaning
different areas. Added menu entry that allows SHEZ to use alternate
SHEZ*.CFG files now that SHEZ requires at least one external
configuration file. Enabled all PKZIP 2.04e (POWER) options in the hopes
that they are more stable now.
013093 Updated PKZIP menu to allow for upto five alternate PKZIP.CFG
files. Began using PKZIP.CFG to set maximal compression.
012793 Downloaded PKZ204E.EXE directly from PKWare BBS. Fixes 22 known
problems with compatability. Began using 2.04e on 1/29/03.
012093 Received HDM 4.5? update notice. Had recently sent several
suggestions plus a report of a small problem with HDMDIAL apparently not
sending text strings to the modem as the old version had (change or bug I
am not sure which).
010593 Downloaded PKZ204C.EXE directly from PKWARE BBS. I will start
looking at creating menu options specifically for the 2.xx release.
(turns out that 2.04c was too buggy. Did not put to use)
010493 Received ThunderBYTE 5.02 (downloaded 5.03) from a THE US
DISTRIBUTION BBS in Madisonville, TN.. I took a serious look at the
program and created two pages specifically for the ThunderBYTE anti-virus
package in the SECURITY menu. One page duplicates the SCAN AREAS page
(which uses McAfees virus scanner). The second page gives access to the
most all the modules of the ThunderBYTE package including the TBAV shell
which provides FULL configuration and operation of the package and
documentation access. The program is FAST and Very Effective at
identifying viruses by string matching and VIRUS LIKE ACTIVITIES/CODE.
112892 Received HDM 4.54 as an update. The main changes are a major
enhancement in the {File} & {Dir} commands. The title can now be 64
characters long plus you now get a lot more info on the files and
directories in an enlarged window. Some time in the past I think a
change was made that allows file {FILE} {DIR} command to operate against
the last drive accessed instead of the default drive. A {CK A} command
allows the {file} command to seach drive A: instead of the default C:
without having to specify the drive command in the {FILE} function. This
is a very good change that I hope to utilize in the menus soon.
111992 Received Stacker 3.0. It boasts of increased compression and/or
increased speed (as a trade off). Apparently the upgrade can only be
installed if yoy have already have stacker installed. I had Stacker 2.0
install on a 20 Meg drive and had 3.2 Megs free with a 1.7:1 compression
ratio. I installed Stacker 3.0 and after recomressing the disk to the
max comression I lost one meg free (went to 2.2 Megs free). Sad but true.
I have moved the Stacker 2.0 Menu (049, Page A) to Page T and started a
new Page S for Stacker 3.0. I used Page A for a routing page for the
compression programs. I also received Neodisk .61 beta test update.
This may be the shareware answer to these disk compression programs.
102392 Received HDM IV 4.53 as an update, and BBS 1.00 as a beta test.
Updated PCTVER.BAT and created a DOSVER.BAT to handle the DOS Default and
Main menus for DOS 3.3 and 5.0 (updateable for 6.0 when released).
102092 Received PCTools 8.0 initial release today. Began work on the
V8.0 menu (HDM.046). Created a new batch file PCTVER.BAT to keep the
proper file (HDM.039, HDM.045 or HDM.046 updated to/from HDM.041) based
on the \PCTV.?? file (default \PCTV.71).
091492 Added COPYQM 3.02 Page to the Disk Utilities Menu. Moved COPYQM
2.01 page to Page O, for backward compatibility. Received Neodisk .052
beta test.
090892 Added Smartware II page to the Smartware 3.1 Menu. This is Page
F and uses a Local Macro to define the Smartware II directory name. This
way you will be able to change the Macro for Smartware 3.1 and/or
Smartware II and adjust where these programs are located at on the HD.
083092 Received HDM IV 4.51 today. Mostly small bugs fixed. More
enhancements are in the works.
081692 Received HDM IV 4.50 today by mail. Some new options are a
couple suggestions that I put in about having a message window in the
{FILE} and {DIR} commands. Jim also fixed the {delay ###} function to
not need three digets (was 005, now 5).
073192 Moved Disk Express 2.0 page from HDM.037 Disk Utilities Menu to
HDM.049 Disk Compression Menu. This is more where the program belongs as
its purpose is compression / storage / transfer of a disk image. CopyQM
could also go here due to the fact that it can create a compressed disk
image and but its primary purpose is to allow mass disk duplication.
071592 Changed Page M & N on every menu. Now these pages have DISK
Utilities/Compression, FILE Utilities/Compression, DOS Versions 3.3 &
5.0, and PCTools Versions 6.0 & 7.1 on one Action item each using the
{SELECT display=} function. This will allow for future expansion.
071392 Received Neodisk .41 beta test version and the new HDM IV 4.3
update today. I have updated some of the Neodisk command actions to work
more effeciently.
070692 Autoexec.bat was modified to automatically use GET and PKZIP
(located in \security\) to move \menu\hdm.log to mm-dd-yy\hdm.log and
move the file into \menu\hdmlog.zip on the 15th of every month or when
you press "T" at the \GREETING.SCR.
063092 HDM.037 Disk Utilities Menu, Page X. Added Disk eXPress 2.0
to the menu. This program will compress a complete disk into a SFX
file that can be extracted to a like or higher capacity disk. Initial
tests show a very good compression of data. Has option to include All
the disk or defaults to the only include sectors that are allocated.
062292 I received HDM IV 4.20 this afternoon. Some bug fixes in
HDMLIST.EXE program and the usual Jim Hass improvements.
062292 During the past two weeks I added MAXPOP 1.0, SHEZ 7.2, VCOMP
1.51, PKLITE 1.14, DIRX 1.09 ... new / and updates to the menu. I also
changed AUTOEXEC.BAT and CCC.BAT to be more stream lined. If you looked
into my AUTOEXEC.BAT you probably would not agree that it is stream lined
but it handles 32 PCs installed at work plus 3 PCs at home. Autoexec.bat
now does a FULL scan on the 15th of each month. Autoexec.bat and CCC.bat
now allow the FAST option of SCAN on the daily scan to reduce the scan
time required. For 99.9% of all cases it will be all that is needed.
060492 Added Page for POPUP 1.12 in Memory Resident Menu (044). This
program can create a 6.8K TSR that can POPUP any program that you could
normally run. You can specify the amount of memory to make available for
the program. You can specify memory to use/not use, path for storage
files, signature for unloading plus almost every aspect of the program.
This is a GOOD TSR Utility.
060192 After installing a Moutain Tape Backup System 7000 series, I
found out that Central Point Backup 7.1 did not support this series.
Thus I started a TAPE Backup Menu as part of the Disk Utilities Menu,
Pages T-U (so far). Page T runs the TAPE program. The directory is
specified through the Local Macro Menu so you can easily change it for
the entire Page. Page U calls batch files located in the root directory
of your Menued Hard Disk Drive. This will allow it to be universal
enough for any Tape Backup (or other backup) system.
052792 Eliminated the need for ASK and ERRLEVEL programs. Now all
responses are handled by the GET V2.5 program.
051892 In the Security Menu (033) I created page H to deal with the new
HDMLIST.EXE program and some additional routines to ZIP -MU and UNZIP
HDM.LOG (renamed to date.LOG) files to conserve disk space. There is
also the ability to store any other *.LOG entry in the ZIP - for any
files that HDMLIST saves in DBASE format. This provides very compact
access to a lot of information.
042792 I received HDM IV 4.11 update disk today. Now I can release the
many changes to these menus since 4.0 came out. Due to some new
{functions} in 4.xx the current menus in this file are not fully
compatible with HDM IV 3.xx release. Please update to HDM IV 4.xx before
installing these menus. The primary change has been in the use of
{SELECT Title~ DISPLAY=Action~DISPLAY2=Action2...}. This adds great
abilities in showing a prompt that is different than the sometimes
cryptic switches programs use ie, (-mf) does not mean a lot to non PKZIP
users but 'Move and Freshen' would.
041492 In GRAPHICS Menu Macro {&1} I changed the reference of GOTO
:EXITOUT to GOTO :HDM4. This used the standing :HDM4 label in the X.BAT
to exit (by pass) the batch file if the action does not find the correct
directory using the IF EXIST %1\PRN test. I understand that this test
WILL NOT WORK WITH DR DOS 6.0 due to the fact that DR DOS 6.0 believes
that device drivers exist even if the drive:\dir\ does not exist.
041492 Aquired several updates to shareware programs. SHEZ71 is
siginificant tho it required no changes to the menu. NEODISK is
realtime compression/decompression simulating a network drive simular in
purpose to STACKER & SPEEDSTOR. It is currently in .021 beta testing. I
am happy to be a beta tester. I installed the initial menu in the DISK
COMPRESSION Menu (D) today.
040292 Updated and enhanced the STACKER 2.0 page of the Disk Compression
Menu. Added Express Publisher 2.4 page to the Graphics Menu. Enhanced
the Autoexec.bat file to look for DMP 2.5 printer spooler files and allow
the user to delete these files (default NO in 30 seconds). Enhanced the
Check Clean Compress (CCC.bat) file to look for and call Stacker 2.0
SCHECK and SDEFRAG in addition to CHKDSK, DISKFIX, COMPRESS programs.
040192 Added a MOUSE / CPANEL menu to the DOS 3.3 and DOS 5.0 menus.
Page K now allows controlling most of the functions of MicroSoft Mouse
8.1 and Cpanel 8.1 programs.
040192 During the IMPORT of the menu, if a default menu has not been
picked for PCTOOLS or DOS then PCTools 7.1 and/or DOS 3.3 menus are
picked and the appropriate ID file is placed in the root directory.
032092 I changed the CCC.BAT file slightly. Since HDM exits to DOS
leaving an errorlevel set to 254 or 255 (depending on setup) my CCC.BAT
failed if you did not have SCAN.EXE in the security directory. It now
also checks to see if it can find SCAN.EXE in the security directory
BEFORE it checks to see if SCAN left the errorlevel set.
031792 PCTOOLS 7.1 Menu - Reset all the \PCTOOLS\ calls with {&9} macro.
This way, if you installed PCTools into another directory besides
\PCTOOLS\, you will only have to make one change in the Local Macros,
Macro # &9. This also saved either 3 or 5 characters (depending on the
usage) for each location changed (20-30+) resulting in 355 characters
saved (or twice that if PCTools 7.1 is also your default Pctools Menu).
030992 Installed Auto-Detect and menu update in DOS Version and PCTools
Version Menus. Now the option detects which menu is in use and updates
to/from the default menu to insure that the most recent revisions are in
use on the default and Main Menus. This is also true for the Export.Bat
file which does this function during an export of the menu. During an
Import the DOSV.?? and PCTV.?? files cause an automatic copy of the
appropriate file to the default menu to insure that there is no need to
manually reset the menu again.
030992 Revamped the Graphics Menu to allow detection of the correct
subdirectory name and changing to the directory. This should have
cleared the use of &8-&0 Macros for future use.
030392 The Stacker 2.0 menu is functional. I corrected some problems
with the Import.bat and Export.bat file. I also had some problems with
loosing changes as my Tandy at home compensated for the Leap Year and the
IBM PS2/30 at work did not. Every time I made a change at work the file
was dated one day too far ahead. If I changed the file at home the same
day (or within 24 hours), the change was lost when I tried to export the
newest files. This happened for four days thus several revisions were
lost.
021992 Began the first steps in developing the Disk Compression Menu.
We just bought Stacker 2.0 at work so this is the first program entered
into the menu. Also, corrected the Directory Call on Page V in both
PCTools 6.0 and 7.1 menus. It had the action of an empty Macro.
021492 Updated EXPORT.BAT to insure the default PCTools and DOS menus
has been copied to the correct HDM menu file just prior to ZIPping any
changes. This will prevent accidental loss of changes due to earlier
change of automatically copying the correct menu to the Default Menu.
021492 Automated the process of maintaining the Default PCTools Menu to
either 6.0 or 7.1 and the Default DOS Menu to either 3.3 or 5.0. During
the option "Make ?? the default menu" option a file is written to the
root directory showing which PCTools Version or DOS Version (PCTV.71 or
PCTV.60 and DOSV.33 or DOSV.50). When running IMPORT.BAT the batch file
checks for these files in the root directory and copies the correct
menu version to the default menu.
020592 Many changes have been made lately but most were just clean up
and general improvements. The most significant was today when I tried
out some of the DOS 5.0 menu options. Unfortunately when I copied the
DOS 3.3 menu and created the DOS 5.0 menu I changed the {&2} Local Macro
to read {&4 Format} instead of {&4 Which}. This caused MANY of the menu
prompts throughout the DOS 5.0 menu to ask to "Format Disk Drive" instead
of just asking "Which Disk Drive". The action that the menu carried out
would have been correct for the description but the prompt was wrong.
Now fixed. Sorry about that.
112791 Changed some of the actions in the Import/Export Menu area.
These Actions (Update Other Areas) are now more flexiable/compact and can
be used to Update/Freshen/Pcopy from/to any drive:\dir.
111891 Output Menu Page D (DMP Print Spooler). Changed a few options
to allow the Flush option (new to 2.05) keys to be defined and activated.
111891 Added support for PCTools 7.1 Maintenance Update. Actually there
is very little difference in 7.0 and 7.1 except for fewer bugs. All the
program names remained the same with few internal changes.
111191 Some of the PCTools COMMUTE menu choices are now consolidated
into one option instead of individual options.
111091 I changed several of the BATCH files (SMALL, CUSTOM, AUTOEXEC..).
Since each TSR loads a copy of the environment, I only set a minimum path
in the Autoexec.bat. This causes the loading process to use a little less
memory than before. This forces the CUSTOM, SMALL, PREDE, PREAUTO, AUTO,
POSTDE (and any other BATCH files) that are used before START.BAT is
called, to change to the proper directory before loading the files it
needs. These few bytes might make the difference between not being able
to load your favorite program and "insufficient free memory".
102791 I added the remaining Batch files that I use with my menu setup.
Several of the menu options called my batch files. This allows a little
more flexability when the batch file contains over 255 characters (the
limit of HDM action strings). I intend to shift from several of my
single purpose programs (ERRLEVEL, CHECK, FREE, CHOOSE...) to one program
called GET. The GET program has been updated recently and looks like it
combinds the features of all of these programs into one program. This
will allow consolidation to one program and prevent the lost HD space
used by 5 or 6 seperate programs.
102591 The Communication Utilities Menu (Page Shez): Shez calls for
autoscanning filespec.ext has been changed from *.ZIP to *.*. Shez no
longer stops execution when it finds a file that it can not identify. It
still logs that the virus scanner returned a non-zero error code (but was
never called by Shez) but I suspect that this will be fixed soon.
102591 The PCTools Commute Page (R) and (S) are now complete. They give
the ability to load COMMUTE in most any mode and activate the scheduler.
Page S is used to copy some Batch files to the root directory.
102591 I have been working on the Security Menu adding some items and
refining others. McAfee removed FSHIELD from their BBS so I removed it
from the menu. I have started another page that gives access to other
anti-viri programs (I use SCAN but you may want to use another one).
102591 Made a change to the name of the file. Since HDM4MOD?.ZIP only
allowed one character to identify revisions 1, 2 then 3, it simply was
going to run out of room soon. For this reason I renamed the file to
HDMM##?.ZIP The ## will indicate the major revision number and the ?
(A-Z) will be used to identify minor revisions.
102391 Made minor revisions to the Import/Export Menu (HDM.069). These
changes revolve around the ability to make fewer keystrokes during
Import/Export of the menu and group menu items for updating programs in
specific areas (\SECURITY\ and \BIN\) that change frequently.
102191 The FORMAT.BAT file (enhanced) and Autoexec.bat files that I use
have now been added to the HDMMxx.ZIP. This might help others figure
out how I use simple BATCH to make changes to the way HDM works. Added
several other batch files to the package. These batch files are single
purpose but might give insight into setting up and using HDM. They are
used by these prefab menus in some areas.
102091 Changes to the HDM.050 (Routing Menu) to allow jumping around
much easier. The DOS Menus now have an option to attempt to find and
rename the format.com/exe file to !format.* as well as to write a generic
format.bat file that will try to help prevent formatting the hard drive.
101991 Graphics Menu: Added Envision It (Page E). Moved Design Cad 2D
Page and replaced it with Design Cad 3D Page. These are the new programs
is use at Sea Ray - Tellico Engineering Department.
101891 Many changes have been made. I have failed to keep up with all
of them. Listed below are some of the major changes:
PCTools 7.0 and PCTools 6.0 have seperate menus.
Recently I have been doing a lot of work with PCTools Commute. The
PCTools 7.0 menu will reflect these changes.
Security Menu (virus scanning) and Shez Menus go through routine updates
when new revisions are received.
Shez (Compression Menu) has had many updates. Since SHEZ now has the
ability to process several compressed files for testing and virus
scanning (keeping a log of activities), it now has a specific page that
uses this ability.
080291 DOS 3.3 and DOS 5.0 menu seperated to allow for specific options
available in DOS 5.0.
071591 PCTools 7.0 menu started. PCTools 6.0 menu renamed to HDM.039
to allow for PCTools 7.0 specific setup.
071591 Started to keep track of major changes to these menus. Minor
revisions will not be noted but major operational changes will be. I
will try to document BUG fixes if they are not easy to find/fix.

Warning: Do not unzip these files into your \HDM directory (or what
ever directory you placed HDM IV in). This can/will over write your
menus with the same name. That is NOT what you want to do.
