and C, as well as calcium and protein.
In the area of the trace elements,
garlic again is very important. It is
rich in selenium, currently being
studied as a possible heart disease
preventive itself. In addition,
selenium is an anti-oxidant which is
said to prevent the effects of aging.
Selenium is probably ten times
stronger than vitamin E and is
especially effective in removing
contamination of heavy metals such as
mercury, lead, cadmium, arsenic and
silver which can enter our bodies
through the food chain and our air and
water supplies.

was discovered by a Japanese chemist
named Kazuhiko Asai. Dr. Asai heard
reports from Russia which suggested
that germanium had anti-cancer
properties. He began a series of
experiments which demonstrated rich
concentrations of germanium in the
kinds of plants which have
traditionally been known to be
therapeutic and health promoting.
Among those, what else? Garlic
of course. Dr. Asai found germanium
was a defense against invading
viruses and showed enhanced oxygen
utilization in animals.
