  4.      In  another  study,  20 healthy 
  5. individuals were  fed garlic for six 
  6. months and  followed  for two months 
  7. without    garlic.     The    garlic 
  8. administration      resulted      in 
  9. significantly lower  cholesterol and 
  10. triglyceride  levels  while  raising 
  11. the HDL's.  A second group consisted 
  12. of 62  patients with  coronary heart 
  13. disease  with  elevated cholesterol.  
  14. Garlic     effected    changes    of 
  15. significant  levels at  the end of 8 
  16. months and  persisted  for  the next 
  17. two  months   of   follow-up   while 
  18. showing  a  distinct   hypolipidemic 
  19. action  in  both healthy individuals 
  20. and  patients  with  coronary  heart

  26. humans  is  inhibited  by   garlic.  
  27. Garlic  reduces the 'stickiness' of 
  28. platelets  and  reduces the rate of

  36. indicate that garlic is a potential 
  37. anticancer agent.  In 1957, a study 
  38. in Science reported that garlic was 
  39. found to be  an antitumor  agent in 
  40. mice. (Weisberger  &  Pensky, 1957) 
  41. Injection   of   garlic    extracts 
  42. together with  treated cancer cells 
  43. resulted in a  substantial delay of 
  44. death  from  16  days  to 6 months.
