System Program Service Diskette Version 1.05
============================================
What This Diskette Does
-----------------------
The System Program Service Diskette given here can update the system
program stored in the ThinkPad system to fix problems, add new functions,
or expand functions. The supported models are as follows.
- ThinkPad 365X 365XD
To determine if you have to update the system program or not, please
refer to the "Summary of Change" section.
To update the system program, please refer to the "Updating System
Program" section.

Summary of Changed/Fixed Items
------------------------------

(Fix) Correction to existing function
<1.01>
- (Fix) On Pentium-120MHz Processor models, the system
intermittently operates unstable when optional memory
is installed.
- (Fix) At AC adapter connected condition, when an external
keyboard is attached via Port Replicator, the system
sometimes does not get into the suspended condition.
<1.02>
- (Fix) When space saver KBD is attached to 365X/XD,
sometimes system hangs at post.
<1.05>
- (Fix) A small amount (8KB) of data could be overwritten and lost
under the following circumstances:
- Hibernation is Enabled.
- There is data present on the last cylinder of the Hard
Disk Drive.
- The ThinkPad actually enters Hibernation mode by pressing
Fn-F12 or by customized power management options.
NOTE: - The problem does not occur when creating the Hibernation
file.
- It only occurs when the ThinkPad actually enters
Hibernation mode.
- Only 2.1GB Hard Disk has this problem. There is no
problem with other hard disks currently available from
IBM.
- (Fix) (CD-ROM Built-in Model only) System intermittently
can not get into the Suspend Mode.
- (Fix) Screen expansion switch sometimes results in black-out screen.
- (Fix) CD-ROM access failure is detected when attach/detch the AC
adapter while accessing the CD-ROM.
- (Fix) The LCD screen is not turned on when ThinkPad is powered-on
with its lid closed position.
- (Fix) Customized Typematic rate is reset at the Hibernation
wake-up time.
Updating System Program
-----------------------
Notes: - You need an AC adapter and a charged battery pack to update
the system program.
- If your computer is attached to a port replicator,
turn off the computer and detach it before proceeding.
1. Print these instructions or display on another computer.
2. Firmly connect the AC adapter to the computer.
3. Insert the System Program Service Diskette into the diskette drive
and turn on the computer.
4. Select "Read this first..." from the menu and carefully read the
information that appears.
5. Press the Esc key to return to the menu.
6. Select "Update system program" and follow the instruction on
the screen.
Warning: Do not turn off or suspend the computer until the update
has been completed. IF YOU TURN OFF OR SUSPEND THE
COMPUTER WHILE THE UPDATE IS STILL IN PROGRESS, THE SYSTEM
BOARD MAY HAVE TO BE REPLACED.
After the update has been completed, run the diagnostics to make sure
that the computer runs with no errors:
7. Make sure the System Program Service Diskette is removed from
the diskette drive, then turn off the computer.
8. Press and hold the F1 key, then turn on the computer. Hold the F1 key
until the Easy-Setup menu appears.
9. If a password prompt appears, type the correct password.
10. Select Test, then select Start to run all the basic tests.
Various test patterns will appear on the screen.
An OK will appear for each device that passes the test.
11. Verify that OK appears for all of the devices tested.
12. Press the Esc key to exit Test and turn off the computer.
System Program Information
--------------------------
Each version of the System Program Service Diskette contains the following
system program (BIOS). The BIOS P/N and the date can be viewed by invoking
Easy-Setup menu.

* NOTE: - Memory Area C000-C7FF is reserved for Video BIOS.
- The "Usable BIOS ROM area" specified above is effective
only with the corresponding BIOS P/N. It is subject to
be changed by a future system program upgrade. It is
not guaranteed for future use.
The BIOS P/N and the date can be viewed by invoking Easy-Setup menu.
