ThinkPad PCMCIA Features for DOS and Windows 3.11 Diskette
Installation Procedure:
-----------------------------------------------------------
For DOS:
- Insert this diskette into the diskette drive A:.
- Type "A:\UINSTALL" and press ENTER.
- Follow the instruction on the screen.
- Restart the system
For Windows 3.11 (includes DOS)
- Start Windows
- Select "File" from Program Manager window, then select "Run..."
from the pull-down menu
- Insert this diskette into the diskette drive A:.
- Type "A:\PCMINSTW" and press ENTER.
- Follow the instruction on the screen.
- Restart the system
For OS/2 Warp:
- Start an "OS/2 Full Screen" or an "OS/2 Window"
- Insert this diskette into the diskette drive A:.
- Type "A:\PCMINST2" and press ENTER.
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
-Go to OS/2 Full Screen.
-At the OS/2 command prompt, type "E CONFIG.SYS" to edit the
CONFIG.SYS file for OS/2.
Add the following statement, at the top of the CONFIG.SYS file
for OS/2:
BASEDEV=RESERVE.SYS /MEM:C600,2000
Save and Exit the CONFIG.SYS file.
Shutdown and re-start the OS/2 Warp system.
IBM recommends to use the "PC Card Director" program for
PCMCIA support in OS/2 Warp. The "PC Card Director" icon is
located on the OS/2 Desktop.
To add PCMCIA support for SRAM/FLASH/ATA Cards, you will need
to modify the CONFIG.SYS file for OS/2. The procedure for
modifying the CONFIG.SYS file for OS/2 is as follows:
-- Go to OS/2 Full Screen.
-- At the OS/2 command prompt, type "E CONFIG.SYS". Press ENTER.
-- Add the following to the existing set of statements for
PCMCIA support in CONFIG.SYS file for OS/2.
BASEDEV=PCM2ATA.ADD /S:2
DEVICE=C:\OS2\BOOT\ICMEMMTD.SYS
DEVICE=C:\OS2\BOOT\ICMEMCDD.SYS 2,s
Make sure that the final set of statements for total PCMCIA
support, in the modified CONFIG.SYS file for OS/2, is as
follows:
BASEDEV=PCMCIA.SYS /P
BASEDEV=IBM2SS01.SYS
BASEDEV=PCM2ATA.ADD /S:2
DEVICE=C:\THINKPAD\VPCMCIA.SYS
DEVICE=C:\OS2\BOOT\COM.SYS
DEVICE=C:\THINKPAD\$ICPMOS2.SYS /MF /F
DEVICE=C:\THINKPAD\AUTODRV2.SYS C:\THINKPAD\AUTODRV2.INI
DEVICE=C:\OS2\BOOT\ICMEMMTD.SYS
DEVICE=C:\OS2\BOOT\ICMEMCDD.SYS 2,s
-- Save and exit the CONFIG.SYS file.
-- Shutdown and re-start the OS/2 Warp syste
