  4.  by Jim Wilkerson
  5.
  6. This procedure is for installing the Enhanced Video features for OS/2 Warp on
  7. the IBM Thinkpad 760ED machines only.  It is designed to work for OS/2 Warp 4.0
  8. only.
  9.
  10.
  11. *** Preliminary Setup ***
  12.
  13. The Thinkpad should be placed on AC power prior to beginning the installation.
  14. Failure to do so can cause various inconsistencies in the installation which
  15. will prevent the system from functioning normally.
  16.
  17. The Thinkpad must be removed from any dock stations for installation.
  18.
  19. The Thinkpad must have functional OS/2 Multimedia, Mwave, and Trident
  20. CYBER9385/82 video support installed prior to installing the Enhanced Video
  21. support.
  22.
  23.
  24. *** Extraction of the Drivers from the Device Driver CD  ***
  25.
  26. Obtain the file TPW4_G2.EXE from the OS/2 Warp Device Driver Pak CD-ROM which
  27. comes with the OS/2 Warp 4.0 package.  This file can be accessed either through
  28. a WEB browser at
  29.
  30.       file:///x:/html/multimef/ibmcorpo/thinkqbf/index.htm
  31.
  32. or from the x:\DRIVERS subdirectory on the CD-ROM itself (x: is the drive
  33. letter for the the CD-ROM).
  34.
  35. Place this file in a temporary directory and execute it.  It will self extract
  36. itself into several files.  From this group of files, locate the file
  37. 760EDMPG.ZIP.  Place it in a temporary directory, and extract it using any
  38. utility that will handle the .ZIP compression format.  From this set of files,
  39. locate the file TRIMPEGE.ZIP and extract it (this can be done in the same
  40. directory as was used for 760EDMPG.ZIP).
  41.
  42.
  43. ***  Installation ***
  44.
  45. Using the Multimedia Application Install object from the Install/Remove folder

  62.                      Video CDI Player
  63.
  64.
  65. *** Performance Considerations ***
  66.
  67. The Thinkpad video color depth must be set to 256 colors in order for MPEG
  68. playback to function properly.
  69.
  70. Do not suspend/hibernate the Thinkpad with the MPEG player open in any manner
  71. (file list, paused, or playing).  Doing so will cause the system to hang after
  72. resume.
  73.
