[HELP DELETE 1 page]
To delete files use the DELETE command. Wild cards ( * and ? )
can be used. Examples:
DELETE ABE.FOR
DELETE ABE.*
DELETE ABE.FOR, NOGOOD.UGH, RTEW
DELETE *.BAK, RU????.*
The command can be abbreviated to DEL.
The DELETE command runs the system program FUR. There are therefore many
options you can use, such as "/DECIDE". For instance, the command
DELETE *.BAK/DEC
will cause the computer to pause before deleting each file, and ask for your
confirmation (Yes,No,Quit,or Go do all the rest).
If you ask to delete ALL (*.*) your files, FUR will automatically switch you
over into "/DECIDE" mode, just to confirm your command one more time.
For a complete list of possible switches, see HELP FUR.
Switches such as /DECIDE may also be added to SWITCH.INI so as to be always
called into usage on all of your DELETE commands for your account(HELP SWITCH).
If you want to get back a file you have deleted, look for
the backup file that may have been made (if you used an editor
to create the file), or you may get it restored from system
backup tapes (if it has been on disk for at least over-night--
see HELP BAKDSK).
For a convenient way to reviewing disk files--selecting some set,
displaying the contents, and being able then to rename, copy, or
delete any of them, see HELP REV.
