COMMENT:An excellent "critical thinking" course textbook. Not only are the usual fallacies, misleading argument forms, and pitfalls of probability concepts covered, but "impediments to cogent reasoning" such as superstitious and pseudoscientific beliefs as well. Perhaps even more relevant (and unusual) is the focus in the later chapters on media manipulation of views, the effect of advertising and money, even textbooks as purveyors of falsehoods.
