COMMENT:Contains information on the development of photography, and how to date and authenticate photographs, with case studies. Of particular interest to skeptics are the chapters dealing with "Trick Photography," "Photographing the Paranormal," and "Paranormal Photography" (of the last two, the former deals with ordinary photographs of extraordinary subjects, and the latter with photographs produced by allegedly paranormal means, such as Ted Serios' "Thoughtographs"). In these chapters, the author gives likely explanations for the phenomena discussed. Each chapter ends with a list of recommended further reading, which covers the material (both pro and con) in greater detail. The Shroud of Turin is briefly covered because of its allegedly "photographic" nature, with the author explaining how the effect can be duplicated.
