COMMENT:Textbook teaching critical thinking and sound informal reasoning by using paranormal beliefs as examples to discuss. Good idea, but too much of a textbook. Readers outside of the classroom are likely to find the book trying too hard to be user-friendly. There is an irritating didactic quality to the writing that flattens out the passion of both proponents and skeptics of the paranormal, and the lessons the book conveys are a bit too formulaic.
