COMMENT:A rather nauseating book. Hearney is a Catholic theologian comparable to D. Scott Rogo in his degree of credulity about the paranormal. There is nary a psychic he does not think has some ability. Most of the book is one anecdote after another, with criticism acknowledged only in order to set up the usual excuses. Unsurprisingly, the connection to Christianity follows the same prescription of credulity and excuse-making. The book gets a bit more interesting when it reflects on possible conflicts between theology and psychic claims. Useful example of the use of parapsychology in religious apologetics, including defending Biblical miracles, but mushy and unbelievable throughout.
