COMMENT:This is probably about as extremely accepting of the paranormal evidence for survival as one can get, while still remaining within the bounds of serious argument. Hypnotic age-regression, OBEs, NDEs, apparitions, all are accepted by Becker with rather minimal concessions to critical views. Indeed, Becker considers the case for survival to be so strong that much of the book is devoted to exploring the resistance of mainstream science to the idea, in broadly "paradigm shift" terms. Most skeptics will regard this book as an example of philosophers being able to defend just about anything.
