COMMENT:Two of Crews's reviews, "The Unknown Freud" (on the origins and current state of psychoanalysis as a pseudoscience), and "The Revenge of the Repressed" (on repressed/recovered memories and their roots in Freudian dogma), along with letters from critics and responses to them. While sometimes too harsh against well-meaning analysts, Crews is a formidable and well-informed critic of Freud and his modern legacy. He makes a good, uncompromising case against psychoanalysis and the repressed memory fad.
