TEKWAR README FILE This is a beta Demo of TekWar the Game. As with any beta, there are bound to be a few problems as the game is still not finished. Before you get started there are a few things you need to know. Although the graphics in TEKWAR are stunning, unless you have a high end machine, we recommend playing in 320 x 200 mode. To skip the intro/briefing screens press [Esc]. The F1 key brings up the help menu. To crouch, press [c]. To bring up the on screen inventory press [i]. To not show gore, as part of the command line type [nogore] after the command. i.e. C:\CAPSTONE\TEKWAR run nogore All the game controls are currently being reworked and are not in their final form. The game may be a little choppy in places due to map design issues as well as our not having optimized the code yet for speed, but we hope to have all that ironed out for the finished game. Please bear with us and give us feedback on what you like and don’t like so we can give you what you want in the final game. To save download time, we have not included the 3D rendered introduction, or the full motion video of William Shatner’s briefings and debriefings that will be in the final version. For the game, we will have a bunch of new weapons and gadgets to play with, a lot more of Greater Los Angeles to explore and six more TekLords to deal with. Next, we have added a unique functionality to using the mouse. In addition to the usual forward, back, turning, and holding the right mouse button (RMB) down to walk straight ahead, by holding the RMB down and moving the mouse in the opposite direction, you switch which direction you go when you hold the button down. i.e. you start with it set to walk forward when the RMB is pushed, if you then pull the mouse back while holding down the RMB, you now go in reverse when the RMB is held down. Now you can get out of trouble as easily as you got into it and retreat while still being able to fire. The default sensitivity of how far the mouse needs to be moved to change the default direction is set to 100. After playing for a while if you would like to customize it to accommodate your personal style, press [F10] and move the mouse forward or back to increase or decrease the setting, The lower the number the less you have to move the mouse , the larger, the further to switch. When you have set the sensitivity set to your desired level, hit [F10] again to save and exit the adjustment utility. Unlike many other first person games, the AI in TEKWAR is very sophisticated. First of all, the Tekgoons don’t just walk stupidly toward you shooting and ignoring your shots. They may guard a location, chase you or maybe even stalk you. In combat, don’t be surprised if they dodge and duck and take advantage of cover. If you notice a door is open and you knew it was closed, watch out, you may be being stalked! On the hard setting, it only takes a few hits to put you out, so save often. You start out with two weapons and can find others. The first is the Kralov CEG 15 Stunner and the second is the C & W Model 2040. The third weapon you can find is the Shrike DBK. It is a very powerful energy weapon, but until you find the accutrak for it, you may find it a little inaccurate.
