If the installation is successful, you will be able to control the cursor with either the tablet or with the mouse. Serial line B is put into a special mode when you install a tablet, and is not restored to normal until you disable or remove the tablet. Simply unplugging the tablet does not make serial line B useful.\ If trouble is encountered, an alert panel will appear telling you what went wrong. If you get one of these panels, first make sure the tablet is connected to serial line B and it is turned on. Click Install again. If that fails, reboot your computer and try again.\ \b Disabling Your Tablet: \b0 \ Click Disable on the Install Tablet panel to stop the tablet from controlling the cursor. Disabling the tablet is always successful. Once the tablet is disabled, you can no longer control the cursor with the tablet.\ Serial line B is returned to its normal operation after you disable the tablet.\ Disabling the tablet just turns off tablet cursor-control and restores serial line B to a useful state. It leaves various other things on your computer that make the next installation of your tablet go much faster. Normally, you will want to simply disable the tablet when you're not using it.\ \b Removing Your Tablet: \b0 \ Click Remove on the Install Tablet panel to completely remove your tablet and its supporting software from the system. You will get a confirmation panel for this action. Removing the tablet is always successful. Once the tablet is removed, you can no longer control the cursor with the tablet.\ Serial line B is returned to its normal operation after you remove the tablet.\ Removing the tablet completely erases all trace of the tablet driver information from your computer. The next time you install your tablet, all of this information will have to be restored. Normally, you want to simply disable the tablet when you're not using it.\ Tablet Modes: \b0 \ There are three modes for the tablet: "Absolute," "Relative," and "Digitizer;" these modes are accessed by clicking the radio buttons just to the left of the installation and removal buttons. In Absolute mode, the entire surface of the tablet is mapped to the screen; that is, the upper-left corner of the tablet exactly corresponds to the upper-left corner of the work space. The same goes for the lower-left corner, and so on. In this mode, one inch in the horizontal direction on the tablet does not necessarily move the cursor the same amount as one inch in the vertical direction.\ In Relative mode, the tablet behaves more like a mouse. You can pick up the pen and put it down somewhere else without moving the cursor. In this mode, one inch on the tablet in either the horizontal or vertical directions moves the cursor the same amount.\ Digitizer mode is for precise digitizing of documents. In this mode, the tablet behaves like it does in absolute mode if you pick up the pen and put it down, the cursor will move. \pard\fc0\cf0 However, a movement of one inch in either direction on the tablet moves the cursor the same amount. \pard\tx520\tx1060\tx1600\tx2120\tx2660\tx3200\tx3720\tx4260\tx4800\tx5320\fc0\cf0 To achieve this, the lower-left and lower-right corners of the tablet is mapped to the lower-left and lower-right corners of the work space, respectively, but the active area of the tablet is made smaller to match the height of the work space.\ \b WACOM Tablets:\ \b0 \ This version of the tablet driver supports the following WACOM tablets: SD-210, SD-310, SD-311, SD-312, SD-320, SD-321, SD-322, SD-420, SD-421, SD-422, SD-510B, and SD-510C. The standard pen and puck for these tablets implement both left and right mouse buttons. The pressure pen implements only the left mouse button. If you have more than one type of WACOM tablet and plan to switch between them, you must first remove the tablet driver and then re-install it (see above). The installation process sets up the configuration based on the tablet model it finds connected to the serial port.\ \b WACOM Styli:\ \b0 There are three basic types of styli available for WACOM tablets: a puck, a normal pen, and a pressure pen. The puck is the mouse-like stylus with four buttons on the top (only two are supported). The normal pen has a barrel switch (side button) and usually has a gray band around its center. The pressure pen has no side button and usually has a red or blue band around its center.\ \b Pressure Sensitivity:\ \b0 \ The tablet driver now supports WACOM pressure sensitive tablets and allows applications that are pressure-aware to read pressure values emitted by the pressure pen. To start using the pressure pen, first turn on the Pressure Pen switch to inform the tablet driver. In this mode you should only use the pressure pen using the puck or standard pen won't work properly. In normal mode the pressure pen won't work properly. To switch back to using the normal puck or pen, first turn off the Pressure Pen switch. You should switch pressure modes using the mouse, not the tablet.\ Install Tablet Help Installer Field2 Field ScrollingText ToolPanel HelpPanel VersionNumber Switch Field1 File's Owner InfoPanel MainMenu Field11 MenuItem [13@] IBControlConnector IBConnector hide: terminate: doInstall: doRemove: IBOutletConnector delegate doDisable: statusText setMode: relAbsMatrix makeKeyAndOrderFront: setPressure: pressureSwitch
