A few problems solved....(obtained via messages on the Internet)


~Problems

The first mission in Kilrathie space.. Is it possible to win it?

What about the Asteroid belt (bases clean up).  How do you do that? 
Do you fly inside the bases and shoot from there? I can't seem to 
get by it...  I just failed the nebula one and continued.... and 
the asteroid one is killin' me.  PLEASE HELP !!!!

I had trouble with the nebula mission too, but I refused to let 
those cats chase me out, so I replayed it until I could get it 
right.  The secret is to fly defensively - I think this is the 
first mission where they start launching multiple missles at you 
and that can beat you down pretty quickly since you have to fly 
to 4 or 5 nav points.

I did it a few weeks ago so I can't remember all the details, but 
I think this is how I did it (on the default ace level):

When you arrive at the nav point, keep your wingman close until 
you're in firing range.  Tell him/her to attack a target while you 
concentrate on another.  If he finishes his off before you do, tell 
him to attack your target and move onto the next fighter.  When 
there is one or two fighters left in the wave, tell you wingman to 
attack one of them while you afterbur to the destroyer.  Select the 
torp, and when you are within range, launch the torp.  That will get 
rid of the destroyer and also the subsequent waves that it would 
have launched.  Scoot back to help out your wingman, then work on 
the tanker.  You will come across another nav point with this type 
of enemy config (ie., tanker escorted by destroyer), and in this one, 
since you used the torp, you have to select full missle silo instead 
(press "b").  The main point is to whittle down the fighters, then 
eliminate the destroyer as quick as possible, since it launches 
about 3 waves of fighters.

The main trick is to use the decoys whenever the cats launch a 
missile at you (ie., press "e").  Keep the "lock" light at the top 
of the screen within your peripheral vision and/or listen for a 
missile launch.  When you notice either indicator, briefly hit the 
afterburner and launch a couple of decoys.  Helps IMMENSELY if you 
have a programmable joystick. 

Good luck; it took me a couple of trys, but I got it.  I've only 
flown one asteroid mission, so I don't know if it's the same one 
you're having problems with.  Are the cats launching mines or are 
you running into asteroids?



~Problem

I'm supposed to go to the planet and clear the way for the marines 
to rescue the scientist.  At any rate, I go to the planet, blow up 
all the fighters and go back.  I still don't meet the objectives!  
What might I be doing wrong?

What you need to do is to destroy the buildings and the Anti Aircraft 
guns. When you have destroyed anought of these there will be the 
usual voice telling you your obectives have been met.
