~Superfrog Arcade by Team 17 Reviewed By Lu Richardson. I'm beginning to get really impressed with Team 17 - they are producing some excellent stuff. As you know, I don't normally go for arcades and only mention them when they are out of the ordinary. And this one is. It seems that it's a Sonic the Hedgehog clone, though I wouldn't know since that sort of game does not interest me. Whatever it is, all I can tell you is that it's very entertaining. The graphics are marvellous, and so is the animation. The sounds are fine, too. The cartoons are worth seeing, just for the fun of it - they are really good. When you start you get treated to a view of Superfrog (and very dashing, too); then you are shown the sort of thing which can be picked up and for what. After that you can select your options, which basically means how hard or easy you want the arcade to be and how many lives - 7 weren't enough for me! There are 5 worlds and each consists of several levels. The gameplay you all know - use the directional keys to move around, ALT to jump and CTRL to fire (when you find the right item). You go around trampling on nasties, picking things up and doing the right thing to get to the next world while trying to stay alive. In each level, you have to collect a certain number of coins to get the exit to the next level open. Nothing very unusual in that, to be sure. But finish a level and you will be given the chance to gamble with a fruit machine for the level code and other goodies. How is that for an extra bit of fun? I think both children and adults will find this game amusing even if it isn't the arcade to end all arcades. This Article Copyright 1995 of Lu Richardson. Written for Cheet Sheets Magazine.
