Thank you for downloading DigitView for Windows 95 v1.3 Please pkunzip the entire contents into one directory without separating the files. There are 5 files that have to be in the same directory --Digiview.exe --digiview.ico --Dvfl.dvt --FileIO.dll --Readme.txt Version 1.3 fixes a bug for machines that have 256 color as system palette, now for those who only have 256 colors, the counter ON-OFF switch is available. Also, it fixes a bug that when digitView starts with the first file, it plays slowly with the counter ON, now it is corrected. Another bug is that whenever an AVI file is played till the end, the cursor will blink rapidly, this happens when you have the loop OFF, it is Video for Windows' problem, and cannot be fixed until. DigitView will also work on Windows NT machines. To run the program, you will need to run Windows 95 or windows NT and add the icon of DigitView by pressing the rightmouse button and drag to a program group with creating a shortcut or whatever you want in Windows 95 to a program group. Sorry about this hassle, the future version will have a user friendlier installer. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some instructions: To open a digital video file, click on the FLOPPY icon on the panel. To toggle between the panel's visibilities, press the space bar. To sweep or refresh the screen, press the R key. To start playing a movie, press the P key. To stop a playing movie, press the S key. You can move the loaded movie to any area, and for those big size ones you can drag the movie to the center and hit the space bar to hide the panel. To change the speed of fast playback, click on the two buttons where the right one increases and the left one decreases the speed. Warning: if you play your movie with 4x the speed, I am not responsible for any damage to your equipment whatsoever. It is up to you to play with this high power setting at your own risk. It is because that it is highly impossible to play 4x the normal speed on a slow machine or with a slow CD-Rom drive(if your movies are on CD's) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DigitView can also play QuickTime movies as well as AVI ones, but make sure you have "QuickTime for Windows" and "Video for Windows" runtimes installed. Windows 95 comes with VFW runtime. For QuickTime, you will have to download it from CompuServe by typing keyword GO QUICKTIME, and on America On Line, type Keyword: APPLECOMPUTER and you can search around to find it, or buy a CD-Rom title such as games that were made with QuickTime video. Or contact Apple and might be logon to Apple's web site to see if they have QuickTime runtime installer for Windows for downloading. You might want to try some CD-Rom magazines such as the Nautilus CD magazine as well. MCI MPEG movies support will be added later also, but this implementation depends on existing MCI MPEG driver on your computer, if you do not have any MPEG driver installed, Digitview will still not work with MPEG movies. Next version of digitView, more likely v2.0 will include volume control of sound, screen shot while movie is playing, double sizing small files, and MPEG playback. DigitView v1.3 is shareware.
